The Wonder Years: The Complete Series [DVD]

This was my childhood.

I can't fault the series and the special features it's all perfect unfortunately the packaging for holding the DVDs is pretty poor. On removing one of the DVDs from the season 6 box the underside of it cracked making it totally unplayable. I would urge major caution when removing the discs as it seems to be a common issue of DVDs cracking. I contacted Amazon about the issue and they were excellent giving me a £24 refund for the box set, however because this did not replace the damaged disc I contacted Fabulous Films (the company who made the box set) about the problem and they sent me out a replacement Wonder Years Season 6 Disc 3 to replace the damaged one which was fantastic of them. I cannot Thank Fabulous Films enough as a am a major Wonder Years fan. I think though I may invest in a DVD wallet down the line to protect the discs. If any other people have a damaged disc in the Wonder Years collection due to being damaged on removal from the DVD cases you can get a replacement disc by contacting Fabulous Films by email on [email protected]. Update I purchased a set of DVD boxes similar to the ones supplied but these are much easier to get out and therefore the discs will be safe. I advise anyone who buys the box set to do the same as the DVD cases are quit tough to get the Discs out and inadvertently damage them on release.

The Wonder Years is one of the best TV Series ever made. I was the same age as Kevin in 1968 and the music, the news, the events all happened to me and my class mates in a very similar fashion. The stories are very real. I have cried thru many episodes and it has brought back so many memories. I am so glad I bought this. I will watch it over and over again. It is loaded with interviews and special features which really add to the experience. If you weren't born in the 50s like I was. This is a voyage of discovery of a time and life style, in Canada and the US that has been lost forever. Every detail is so authentic. We had the same kitchen table and chairs and even the same placemats. It is a wonder how they did that!!Wanting a colour TV but they were too expensive.....the school cafeteria food.....the teachers!!! Hide and Seek, Kick the Can, the neighbourhoodWow it is just like our old home movies..........................

I haven't watched the entire collection yet but have watched the first few series and have really enjoyed them. I remember they were on when I was a teenager so it was like going back to a different time! They are presented really well but the cases are in the outer casing so tightly that it can be difficult to get them in and out. That is only a small complaint though.

It took all of 5 minutes - probably around the time I remembered the fate that awaited Brian Cooper - to recall exactly why a houseful of graduates, graduate students and newly employed Londoners got up faithfully every Sunday morning to watch The Wonder Years when Channel 4 showed it.It would never work without the music being sorted out. It is not just that it evokes the era, but that way each song woven into the plot to add pathos, or humour or a spirit-lifting moment to what was on screen. That could never have been faked.If you are on this page, get on with it. You know you want to.

I have been after the whole of The Wonder Years for along time. It is as good as I remember, and this set comes complete with lots of booklets and bonus material about the background, the creators, , the actors and crew. They are all passionate about it and I can understand why, as I tend to feel the same. One slight problem: it is quite difficult to get the discs out of their cases, and I was worried I would damage them. I know others has experienced similar problems. I myself have bought new plastic cases and solved the problem .

It took a while before they released this box in Europe. Yes the US version has the metal locker and a lot of additional goodies but is a lot more expensive. This one is a keeper. Memories, memories, memories. The producers managed to capture the gist of a decade (the seventies) through a very simple but effective story-line (kids growing up in an American suburban area). The background voice and the perfect soundtrack turn this television series in to a true masterpiece. To be watched again and again and again. It is a "symphony" of recognition and the themes are universal.

Arguably the best written half-hour television show in history, and certainly one of the best of the 80s/90s. Many in the world have been waiting for music clearances to be secured, and thanks to Time-Warner, purveyors of the Time-Life Music History series, the whole Emmy Award-winning Wonder Years canon is now available. All six seasons, with bonus interviews and featurettes at the end of every season, and four additional discs of interviews and reminiscences by the cast, writers, directors, producers, creators, and key grip. It's almost too much.On a trivial note, a few of the opening credit scenes feature a different country singer performing Joe Cocker's arrangement of the Beatles' "With A Little Help From My Friends". It's interesting, but not a major drawback.
