wtf
It was good until the ending. wtf was that????????????I like the mate twist, but the age gap being over 900 years and she’s 22 and still growing into herself is a little blah

kind of fun, but…
If the author had had the heroine bite, her lip, one more time, I was going to find the author and stake her! That and the whole trope about Men never telling you what’s going on. I liked this book, but was very annoyed with it.

Goodbye Edward, Hello Julian.
I was hooked from chapter 1. This is my first vampire book since Twilight and thank goodness there are more books in this series out already. I didn't know if I would survive the suspense!

A New and Different Vampire Story
I am no spring chicken and have read tons and tons of books — my favorites in the last decade or two being vampire stories. They come in all shapes and sizes with all sorts of ways created to survive. I found this story to be pleasingly different, but I had moments of difficulty understanding The Rites and who could or could not be married into the strongest vampire families and why. I liked this first book very much and will recommend it highly. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series, The Second Rite!

Falling for the Vampire
Thea Melbourne is an inspired cellist, but she is also a waitress, a roomate and the daughter of a cancer survivor with huge medical bills. When she was escorted home by a gorgeous man who claimed to be a vampire trying to avoid being married off by his family, Thea ignores everything except the gorgeous guy part. The marriage part Thea believed immediately since they were obviously richer than rich, but the vampire part… well all those people were remarkably attractive.Julian Rousseaux was the eldest true blood male in one of the oldest vampire families in the world, and was slightly out of touch due to having slept for more than 30 years. His family and the old hierarchies way of doing things wore on Julian, and he preferred to avoid them as much as possible.Neither Julian or his family were prepared for Thea, who was entirely too lovely and too brave for her own good. Julian couldn’t seem to help himself from being attracted to her, and of course as in all rich guy romances, he offered to pay off her bills to be his girlfriend to avoid the marriage mart. That was all well and good and Thea was very attracted to Julian, so she agreed to act as his girlfriend never realizing there were certain rites she would be forced into as part of the ploy. Some of those rites could prove dangerous and Julian’s mother was not happy that he had chosen to cavort with a human instead of a familiar or another high born vampire.Julian and Thea can’t fight their attraction, but since Thea is a virgin they also cannot couple. Is Thea Julian’s mate, as in his one true mate? His best friend thinks she is, and Julian turns into a beast if another man attempts to touch her hand. There are adventures galore in this book, but the end leaves Julian and Thea separated. This was an excellent romance, a fairly good vampire story with well drawn characters and plot and I can’t wait to get to the next book!

Vampires! Magic! Love. This book has it all.It told a bit different story of how vampires came to be, and why they need to marry and produce with witches … it is a little confusing but I found it entertaining. There is this subject of tethering being dangerous … if a vampire takes a woman’s virginity. It was not well explained and I found it extremely confusing. I hope the other books give more insight. The book ends in a cliffhanger if you care, but the other books are out so I am off to read the rest!
