High quality & excellent VFM jacket
Having looked at the other reviews and having found the measurements of the jacket I decided to get an M instead of an L or XL.For this jacket, the measurements I found, are as follows:S: chest size is 60 cm seam to seam, meaning 120 cm or 47.24" circumference, 49 cm sleeve length & 79 cm total length of the jacket;M: chest size is 62 cm seam to seam, meaning 124 cm or 48.8 inches circumference, 50 cm sleeve length & 80 cm total length of the jacket;L: chest size is 64 cm seam to seam, meaning 128 cm or 50.4' circumference, 52 cm sleeve length & 81 cm total length.XL: chest size is 68 cm seam to seam, meaning 136 cm or 53.54" circumference, 54 cm sleeve length & 82 cm total lengthXXL: chest size is 70 cm seam to seam, meaning 140 cm or 55.11" circumference, 56 cm sleeve length & 84 cm total lengthXXXL: chest size is 73 cm seam to seam, meaning 146 cm or 57.48" circumference, 57 cm sleeve length & 86 cm total lengthThe measured circumference of a jacket should always be about 4" bigger than the actual chest size to fit properly. For a winter jacket is always good to allow for a little bit more room for thicker clothing (that is, more than 4") so the size M of this jacket (48.8" circumference) is in fact perfect for a size 44 in UK.My partner's chest size is 44 and the M fitted him perfectly. As per all the other reviews, the jacket is of very high quality, very warm, looks very expensive and although a bit heavy, once put on, the weight is not felt at all. I know because I tried it myself :) The shape of the jacket is very flattering and looks good when put on. Loads of pockets, beautifully finished, excellent value for money, cannot fault it.

Top quality coat
This coat is of the best possible quality imaginable. It has a wealth of features - too many in-fact - you could get a week's shopping in all the pockets and not notice they were full! It's totally waterproof and very warm - too warm really for the kind of weather we are now getting in the UK because of global warming. It's very generously sized too and I would definitely go along with other reviewers when they advise going down a size. Its only let down is the silly detachable fur around the hood. If you want to tighten the cords to close the hood, because the fur is detachable, it just loops up and leaves big gaps. It would have been better to attach the fur to the actual hood but I suppose it's been made to remove for washing purposes as I don't think the fur would fare well for being bashed around in the washer with the rest of the coat!PS: I liked my husband's coat so much I bought a second one for myself thinking that a small men's would fit a woman's size 10 - it didn't! It was absolutely massive and I had to send it back. Unfortunately I was charged £6.00 for sending it back and it was taken off my refund so beware if you are buying one of these coats. Do size down because, believe me, they are really big!

Very warm
I purchased this coat for my dad after he tried the one I have owned for 5 years and fell in love with it.Yes it is a heavy coat while holding it, but once it’s being worn it doesn’t feel any heavier than any other coat I own. The quality is outstanding, very warm... I find I cannot wear anything more than a T-shirt under it if I am doing any sort of walking around because I have to undo the zip to let some of the heat out. It’s waterproof and totally wind proof. There are a lot of pockets in this coat, more than your average coat, the only negative point I find is I remembering which pocket I have put something in.I would highly recommend this coat to anyone, 5 years of ownership and many more years of life left in it.

Zipper far from substantial, and unresponsive seller
Zipper has broken after only 3 months , missing teeth etc . Contacted the seller twice but only get radio silence. Expect more from amazon and its approved sellers.

Couldn't be better.
An excellent coat, for serious weather. Tested it out in Ukraine in January with temperatures down to -12C, and was warm enough with just a t-shirt underneath. There are plenty of pockets, although I'm no sure if I'll ever use the rear one! The hand warmer pockets are a bit too snug, but really if it's cold enough for this coat why aren't you wearing gloves? The quality is excellent and I expect that it will last a lifetime with the level of use I require from it (a few weeks a year trekking in cold places). Excellent value for money, I would recommend to anybody and will likely be purchasing some more equipment from Geographical Norway this year.

Great Parka, but seams under the arm broke after 3 months
Great parka. However, it size 1 size too large. I ordered size L as this is what I normally wear, but have to return it and order size M instead. It is very warm, and protect very well from the cold, snow, and rain. However the seam underneath one of the arm broke after 3 months. Also the Zip looks like it is going to break at the bottom.
