I've been donning a tux a few times a year for literally decades. In the beginning I collected jewelry studs and cuff links, and even bought a few dress shirts so I could wear them with suits, to. Easy to use and looked good!
They're a bit bigger than the usual tuxedo studs, so I would'nt recommend in an exclusively tuxedo environment, but in a wedding where there were both tuxedos and suit and ties, I blended in perfectly and looked good.

I bought them for my dress shirts, and they work as expected. The black color looks nice and matches my shirts. Simple and neat, not flashy, and great for formal events or business. Attaching and removing them can be tricky; some stay in place, others don’t.

Much larger than studs
The button covers might work, but they are huge. Do not buy them thinking that they can coexist with or replace studs, because they are way too large to do that.

Sometimes they get stuck and I don't think I'm going to get my shirt off. Seriously I get panicked! Sometimes I need help to get them to open up. Other times I have looked down and realized the clasp was open and the cover was dangling there, about to fall off. But I get so many compliments on them. They really are a good value and dress up a plain white shirt into a really polished look.
