As always Maxpedition doesn't let down
I’ve been a fan of Maxpedition products for years, and this briefcase is no exception. It’s a solid, durable bag that serves its intended purpose really well. On the larger side, it’s perfect for carrying my Bible study books and other essentials. The design is classic Maxpedition—thoughtful, rugged, and built to withstand a lot of wear and tear. I’ve had it for a few years now, and it’s holding up beautifully without any special care. It’s clear that this bag is made to last. One thing to note: like any shoulder bag, when you load it up with heavy items, it can put a lot of strain on your shoulder. This is a bag you can easily overfill, and it will get heavy, so keep that in mind. However, when you do have a substantial load, it’s very capable of carrying it all, which is a major plus. My only real gripe has nothing to do with the bag itself—it’s just that my cat’s hair seems to stick to the material like a magnet. If you’re a pet owner, be prepared for some extra cleaning. But honestly, that’s a small issue in the grand scheme of things. If you’re looking for something a little less bulky, I’d recommend Maxpedition’s “Last Resort” bag, which I also use regularly. It’s great for when I don’t need to carry as much, and I prefer it for lighter loads. That said, each of these bags has its own purpose, and this briefcase excels at holding a lot of gear without compromising on quality or design. Overall, if you need a large, durable bag that can handle large loads, this Maxpedition briefcase is a fantastic choice. It’s a well-built, no-nonsense bag that does exactly what it’s meant to do—carry your stuff, and do it well.

Excellent whatever-you-need-it for bag.
I've been using the Maxpedition Tactical Attache bag as my laptop/everyday work essentials bag. It was superb, but I gradually added more and more tools I wanted to keep at hand, I didn't want to have to remember to grab a secondary tool bag when dashing out the door for a repair (I'm a business IT guru). So enter the slightly bigger Maxpedition MPB, with extra pockets and a larger main compartment. I was able to organize all my everyday tools, laptop essentials, and have some extra room besides for whatever other junk I need to take with me on a particular job. This bag is quite a big bigger and so doesn't slide as nicely into the space behind my drivers seat but I'll take the trade off. The main compartment has a divider, and can easily hold two laptops if you want (13" or less screen size). One secondary pocket has tool slots and pockets, and the other has DVD sized pockets. On the narrow ends you have 3 more pockets, the bigger one by itself can accommodate a water bottle. When hitting the range, I can quickly just pull out my laptop or some of the other junk the main compartment and slip in my pistol case, ear protection, glasses and ammo. This bag really is setup to be versatile and usefull for many tasks. I read several reviews that complain about the thinner 1" shoulder strap. So when ordered I already planned to just take the thicker 2" strap with leather shoulder pad from my Tactical Attache and use it with this one. When it arrived and I started carrying it around however, I found I liked the thinner strap - and to be clear, while the strap is 1", the shoulder pad portion is still 2" as you can see in the picture if you look closely - it gets in the way less and is IMHO a nice improvement over other Maxpedition shoulder straps. As far as quality, it's still a Maxpedtion, that is - tough and ready for abuse. I have no doubt it will hold up just as well as my other 7 bags that have served me well over the years - from mundane daily work to mountain adventures.

Cheap Strap/Fantastic Bag
As some of the reviews mention the strap on this bag is not the same in the picture. You can order a two inch strap straight from Maxpedition but the d-ring is not the same either. It is cheaper. Of course the rest of the bag is the Maxpedition style of quality, good materials, and a product that will stand up to almost anything. However, someone should mention that the strap is not the same before you buy. These bags sold here are about $30.00 cheaper than if you were to purchase them at Maxpedition, so maybe that's why they come with the cheap strap. If I had a negative about Maxpedition products it would be the zippers. The zippers are supposedly high quality, but they get stuck easy and are hard to zip on smaller pockets especially around corners. This is something, I feel, needs breaking in and over time it should not be a problem. Otherwise if you can live with the cheap strap go for it. Update: May 16, 2012 - Maxpedition's website updated there MPG bag showing the 1" strap. I guess this was a change made before the pictures were updated. This is not a fake bag! Amazon in turn changed their photos to reflect the new strap. You can check it out here. [...]

EXCELLENT IN EVERYWAY PERIOD! -------------------A------------------------
I'm a heavy outdoors person, ok did I say I fly a lot too! This bag briefcase is awesome in build quality and size. I bought the black color since I did not want to look tactical using this as my carry on bag-haha. It fits one week of clothes.......meaning underwear, one pair of heavy long pants, seven pairs of heavy duty socks, two shorts, six t shirts, small office supplies, magazines and bathroom supplies with room to spare without the bag looking full! If I was to be PICKY the bag only came with a one inch strap and no longer comes with the extra padded cushion.................but it does come with a cushion, just smaller! With a bag of this quality I prefer the two inch strap in which I just use my strap and cushion from another bag since I had plenty of maxpedition straps. FYI................Based on my experience if you are flying regardless if you have pre check or not this bag in black commands a HEAVY look by TSA and everyone so expect to be asked to open it up...unless you have a US flag in BRIGHT colors on a key ring attached to the outside. I have one US flag key 1 x 3 inches key ring on the outside and two more in obvious places inside on each side and EXPERIENCE less than a one second glance that I'm a SUPER good guy..........LOL. Of course, if you are leaving the USA, take that flag off the outside because bad guys -thief's will target you! This bag can be configured into many different uses as it does have the ability to be a CCW everything already included and moveable on Velcro, outstanding built in features like exterior separate pockets x 3, very secure connection points, comfortable in every aspect! This bag comes in dark black- darker than the picture actually shows, green and tan that I know of.

Quality product, but buy a better strap to go with it.
I definitely made the right decision in spending the extra money to get this bag. It is a high quality product. First off, since this is a multi-purpose bag (hence the name), when writing a review it is important to consider what the reviewer is using the product for. In my case, I use it as an everyday carry bag. For that purpose, this bag is fantastic. I am astounded by how much stuff I have been able to fit in this bag - school materials (books, etc), simple first aid supplies, sunscreen, small tools, trauma shears and my stethoscope (I work in health care), extra pens/highlighters, the Maxpedition fold-up drawstring bag (another excellent product by the way), one change of light clothes, flashlight, extra medications, extra knife, paracord, and more. Yes, I carry all this stuff around with me every day...you never know, and so far the weight of the bag has been perfectly manageable. The materials are quality. The teflon/polyurethane coating on the nylon had its first test yesterday when I left my water bottle open and it spilled all over the bag and sat there for five minutes before I noticed it. Now, I must tell you: this bag is very good at resisting water penetration but is not completely waterproof. It will withstand liquids spilling on it excellently, but if you let it sit in a puddle for awhile the liquid will eventually soak through. In my case, some of the water soaked into the material but did not make it all the way through to the inside of the bag - as far as I'm concerned that is pretty damn good considering most other bags I've used would have had a huge mess inside after that. I'm impressed. I read reviews stating that Maxpedition has replaced the original strap with a much lower-quality one. This proved to be true - the strap was so sub-par that I could not help but wonder why they bothered to include it. However, this was not a big deal for me as I had a much heftier 2-inch strap at home that is now performing very well with the shoulder pad on it. My advice is that if you buy this bag, make sure you get a better strap for it unless you do not intend to shoulder-carry the bag. As far as the versatility of this bag is concerned, I have no doubt that if I ever needed to repurpose this bag to serve another function I would have no problem doing so. This bag will serve almost any purpose you can imagine, within reason. For instance, I have a RapDom messenger bag that would likely make a better hiking/outdoors bag than this one, but that all depends on individual preference. Another thing to expect when you receive this bag: The material is very stiff and will take some time to break in. This is due to the teflon/poly coating on the bag - but by sacrificing a nice pliable feel, you are getting impressive water and grime resistance and ease of cleaning.

Pretty soon people will catch on and move to another brand. Maxpedition failed with this one...
I am an early adopter of Maxpedition gear. I have bought many bags, slingers, attaché and every single accessory they made at an early stage. I would have given this purchase a 3 star if I did not know how well these items used to be made. This recent purchase was REALLY DISAPPOINTING. This doesn't even look like the early Maxpedition gear. For example, the webbing for the shoulder straps use to be 2 inches wide all the way around, now it is 1 inch sown to a 2" piece where it meets your shoulder. Another example is the padding of the shoulder strap, now it is an awkward piece of padded vinyl sown to straps attached to hook-and-loop, but it used to be a padded wrap made of the same material as the bag. Another very disappointing feature was the sewing lines, the insert hook and loop on the inside is already coming apart at the seems. The straps to hold a flashlight is smaller in at least 1/2 inch, as a result it no longer holds my Double D Maglight. The attachment to the bag had a swivel carabiner, now goes through a plastic D ring.... The list goes on and on....The general design and distribution looks good but the execution was botched! I guess there is a niche market to be filled by a small gear manufacturer that will earn my business based on quality alone. Many people out there pays this price but demand some quality....Too bad I have to start searching again, I used to be happy with Maxpedition but I guess every company sells out to profit at some point. My advice to Maxpedition CEO-- Enjoy your profits while people still don't catch on... I may make a video and post a link here later...

Heavy duty tough bag.
I've waited 4 months to write this review, so now after 4 months of heavy use I can write an honest review. Ok I love this bag. Plenty of room on each outer side for binders notepads and or laptop, tablets etc.. etc... The inner compartment has room for books, hand gun case or even lunch and a thermos if you wish, also has a removable divider with Velcro straps on it. On both ends ends of bag is compartments (mini pocket organizer 4x6'' fits perfect in one.) the other side an ID/card holder with clear window. outer compartment also has slots for pens or penlight, with lower compartment perfect for wallet and cellphone. I've read some complaints about the 2'' strap but I have to tell you so far it's has been nothing but durable and not the slightest hint of being weak or ready to give. Now the one thing I did not like about the bag was the two ring Velcro straps on top. they were in the way of opening the bag for me. or if you put say a rolled magazine or an old school Maglite then it was in way of the handle. just did not work for me, but might be perfect for you. I cut them off and now it's perfect. I use this bag at work (which is very hard on equipment) 5 or 6 days a week and I can tell you it's a tough well made versatile bag.

Questionable stitching...
Been using Maxpedition bags for more than a few years. I have to say that I am rather disappointed with this one as it is only a fre months old and the stitching has separated on the closure at the top of the bag. Never had one that has ever come apart.
