If you create a table mat/table protector with this cord, would it tend to melt if you set a hot dish or pan on it?

I would think how HOT the item you would put on your mat. Since you can splice two ends together with heat, it might melt. I would place a hot pad under the pot to be sure. I made table place mats for eating and Love the way they turned out. Hope this helps
