Great value coffee
Love buying my coffee in bulk. Coffee Bean Direct's coffee always comes quickly on order, their product is high quality, tastes great and best of all it saves me money (compared to buying other coffee).

Decaf, nicely done
People at my office who drink decaf prefer this coffee because it tastes like coffee, with good strength and not much acid (smooth) so it seems not to upset anyone. The regular coffee drinkers who want a French Roast coffee, say, will drink this coffee as well when theirs runs out.

Good Coffee - No Bitterness
I bought a 5lb bag of the Poor Man's Blend - just made my first pot. I think this is a good, somewhat above average, coffee. Certainly worth the excellent price! It is not an exceptional cup, but I wouldn't expect that from any "blend". I drink a lot of coffee, at least one full 12 cup pot every day. I like it strong and I only drink it black, so no chance to cover up bad tastes. I find no bitterness or acidic taste to this coffee at all, and I even brewed this first pot a bit stronger than I usually do (based on the level of the beans in the grinder). The beans do not have a particularly strong or heady smell (somewhat disappointing), but they do have a fresh appearance, as opposed to some garbage brands that are bought several years old for pennies on the dollar. I am not a coffee connoisseur or "snob", but I certainly know what I like, and I offer the following information only to help any reader decide if my review might be meaningful to their specific tastes: First of all, I am frugal, probably even "cheap". I have found many excellent coffees over the years, but I just won't pay the usually stupid high prices to drink them every day., so I am always on the lookout for a new find at an excellent price. Coffees I generally find excellent include Blue Mountain, Jamaican, Ethiopian, and Honduran. I am not a particular fan of Kona beans, but most anything from Kauai is excellent. I prefer a dark roast, but I absolutely DETEST anything sold by Starjokes, and I will not drink that garbage even if it is free. Burnt dirt is NOT an acceptable flavor. No "flavored" coffee is ever acceptable - even the smell of them makes me gag.

Best value coffee on the planet
Been using this for years for my office, back when it had different packaging. The quality is great. Lots of comments on how good our coffee is. I think that is partly our brewing method (Chemex) but these beans don't hurt. Really good, truly light roast (won't clog your grinder) and consistent quality (I must have purchased 150 of these bags over the years).

Bold fresh decaf
Best dark roast decaf in a decent price range! Bold, oily beans, with a rich flavor! Very fresh roast. Ive been buying this for a few years now, and I go through a LOT of coffee!

The honest truth from an honest coffee "snob".
If you're like me, then you understand that for coffee to truly be appreciated, it needs to be drinkable black. The flavor, aroma, and color are all part of the experience. A good coffee will taste good without the masking of cream and sugar. Generally speaking, I drink about a pot of coffee a day, but $14-$20 for 12 ounces of coffee breaks the bank. Counter culture, Intelligentsia, and Larry's Beans (A relatively small roaster from Raleigh NC) are my top choices. As a grad student who does not have time to work, when I saw the opportunity to purchase five pounds of Penny Pincher's Light Roast at $30.00, I figured why not. I saw the reviews for the company and they set the bar very high for my expectations. As soon as I got it, I threw some beans into my conical burr grinder, and then made a pot. The final product, which is what I am drinking now, in all honesty lies within the absolute middle of the range. In the bottom of the range are brands like Folgers and Maxwell house. The top of the range, the brands listed above. So, what does this mean? I am sitting here currently sipping a cup of hot, black coffee, and I am able to do so without wanting to spit it out. The smell wont take you to heaven, but it does not displease. I love the caffeine from a light roast, its got punch, and the coffee only has a very slight burnt (weird for a light roast) taste. However, the biggest difference, and the most important one, is that is does not have the disgusting chemical taste that you find in most large chain grocery store, massed produced coffee. I have five pounds of this to get through, and honestly, I think I will be able to do so with ease. It is already starting to grow on me, and I believe it could grow on you too. This is definitely the best coffee I have ever had for the price.

Recommend a coffee lovers
This coffee is huge! My husband and I were spending so much money on getting decent coffee every month that’s not light or Folgers. This coffee is so good and you buy in bulk and at last us over a month. I would recommend this dark roast coffee to anyone who likes a rich taste coffee, and it doesn’t taste watered down. The aroma of the coffee is so good. My husband can wake up in the morning just to me making a pot of coffee.
