Perfect little air compressor.
I got this compressor after reading all the reviews and youtube.com. It works great. Every review I read said that is was quite and it is. What I wanted to know is the pitch of the sound, and I was not able to find anywhere I might put a youtube up of this but, it is a direct drive to the pump and it sounds like a very loud refrigerator. It does fill fast and does not take long to recover when using my 1/2 impact. It's over kill but I did replace all my fittings with Milton V style. I don't know what kind was on there but they were a simple push in (no need to pull back collar) I did replace the fittings with Milton V style for better flow and there appears to be a plug on the side of that manifold for a third. I put thread tape on the fittings put the air filter on and oiled it up and let run for about 20min with the air drain open then let it cool completely. Checked for oil leaks and any thing else all looked good, close the air drain and turned it on worked great and shut off right a 135psi. It held that pressure for a long time (at least 4 hrs) I couldn't wait wanted to use it, It all works great. Airing up tires, Impacts, blow gun taps a little, roofing nailer, hardwood floor nailer, haven't yet but I think it would run a paint gun well. whatever you can throw at it, it says 100% but.....? Ya. It is the best quality built and would buy another over others hands down. It is heavy but that is fine for me, the carry handle well position for carrying. My only complaint is the instructions say to not to use a extension cord and if you do a 10g is preferred. but the cord the you plug in is 14g. To me that didn't make much sense. ( I understand long runs to up the cord but then to have a 14 at the end?) In my uses the cord has never got warm but maybe something to keep in mind. The box was well intact its a super heavy duty cardboard box with packing straps and a glossy outside finish, its the original box from Ingersoll Rand and well stabilized inside. It made it to Alaska, and came on FedEx. If your on the fence on this just buy it, you will like it I know I sure do, just wish I had more projects to use with.

Only but the best...
I am no stranger to IR compressors as I have purchase many over the years used for large production facility applications. My experience using them and their reputation in the field solidifies in my mind that they are at the top of their game, the best of the best. When it came time to replace my portable compressor, I found this twin stack unit (model P1IU-A9), and decided to give it a try.Box arrived on promised date (thanks Amazon) but with a few war wounds, which translated into a few scratches on the tanks; not enough to return the unit. Was pleasantly surprised at the quality of all the hardware. Everything seems to be extra heavy duty which of course translates into weight. She is quite heavy but not to the point that it is not portable. I will probably dedicate a dolly or cart to facilitate rolling it around. It came with an air filter that looks more like it was designed for dessert conditions (very well designed). Stainless steel braded line leading from compressor to tank (not visible in pictures), quality brass fittings and copper lines. All plumbing seemed to be properly assembled. Nice fit and finish. When I fired it up, I was pleasantly surprised. It seemed to be half as loud as my previous (Campbell and Hausfeld) compressor. I also noticed it had low vibration. Previous compressor vibrated quite violently.Tank fills quickly and consistently and comes with a brass ball-valve drain.Negatives:A little upset about the paint on the tanks getting scratched from shipping, but I got over it.Weight - maybe too heavy for someone with a bad back (approx. 80 lbs.)Manifold assembly (gauges, regulator, connections) was not centered with cut-outs in front panel. Easy to adjust.Gauges, as many have said, are poor. They are hard to read (small print). I had to get down on my hands and knees to read the pressure. On the bright side, at least they would be very easy to change out if I decided to do so in the future. All in all, very pleased with the purchase. I am a value hound and this is one of the best values I have run across in a long time. Built like a tank.Update: Owned a little more than one year now. Completed several large projects (2,000 SF of solid wood flooring, built-in bookshelves, major trimwork, etc...). Unit still works like it did on day one. I love this compressor. I do caution everyone that it is a little heavy. Maybe I'm getting old (or need to work out more). This thing is built like tools used to be built. Will last a life-time.

Poor Shippin, Good compressor
Seems like a well built unit. They should have an installed sight glass for oil level instead of a dip stick. I am running it in for a quick break in, will change oil after about 30-45 min of run time, and again after another 15, so it should be very clean entering my limited service for this unit. It is much quieter than the little Craftsman it is replacing, which after about 15-18 months of use, just airing up tires, suddenly started stopping after about 30-40 seconds of run time, and smell like electrical burn. Was told by sears that repairs on the craftsman would be about 1.5 times what I paid for it, hence this purchaseAmazon prime two shipping was a laugh! when I ordered it said in stock. I ordered on Oct 28, it did not actually ship until Oct 31 and I received it on Nov 2.

This is it!
I use my compressor just about every day and am very picky. When my old compressor started to go, I started looking. I saw many other models that the guys I worked with used, (too loud, too large, too slow, various problems). I looked at all of the box stores, local hardware/tool stores and on-line,(the only "real" air tool store in our area went out of business, and my old compressor company no longer exists), still nothing good, untill I found this compressor! Very glad that I waited to find the "just right" one.Received the compressor, put oil in, fired it up, works great! At this point I have not used any air tools except nail guns, but with the fast recycle time and the specs, it should work great. (I will update)Pros: About as quiet as compressors get, low vibration, charges up fast. Good price. It cycles back on at high pressure so I never have those last few nails not set right. Has 1/4 turn ball valve tank drain. Easy access air filter. Runs on 15 amp circuit. 100% duty rating!Cons: Very heavy, (77lbs) and has a fairly big footprint. (But so nice overall that it still deserves 5 stars).
