Excellent beginners reference
For those of you who have toyed with the idea that "Meditation" might be worth investigating as a form of relaxation,you should look no further than " Zen meditation in plain english ".It is a step by step guide to how,when and why you should learn to relax this way.If you are concerned about having to twist yourself into knots to achieve the lotus position,the book will explain all the positions you can try to find the most comfortable one to suit your body.The reason I have only given this book a 3 star rating is because it needed to explain further the awareness part of the meditation practice.The next step after reading this book and getting started is to move on to further reading like "Mindfulness in plain english by Bhante Henepola Gunaratana" or the very excellent books written by Jon Kabat-Zinn.David Nuttall
