Freecad V .20 NOT V.21
Not sure if there is a way round it, but there are differences between the version I have installed (v.21)and the version used by the author (v.20) when writing the book.I was hoping to use this as a self teaching resource, but as I follow through the well described tutorials and guides, some of the menus, tabs and toolbars are different (i.e accessing grid snaps) and some tools do not function in exactly the same way as they did in the previous version. Unexpected errors also occur, and although I have found my way around some of the issues I have encountered, it can be very frustrating when unexpected things happen when following the instructions to the letter.Overcoming unexpected oucomes may be a good way of learning but it is making my progress very slow.I will persevere, but may have to install the earlier version. The other option is to see if I can access the authors web based resources to see if they reflect the later software version.

Fantastic resource for beginners!
As a new CAD user I started with a less expensive Kindle book and found it to be hitting some of the high points but jumped from one level to the next without explanation. I downloaded the sample of this book and saw the difference immediately. In almost every case when a question arises, the next sentence will say, "don't be concerned with this right now, we will be covering this topic shortly".I think this book covers FreeCAD version 20 but seem applicable to version 21 with only minor differences.I can't say enough good things about this text. My advise is, buy the good one first and cry once.
