if you have kidney disease you better read this book!
thank god he wrote this book. i thought i was the only one who had a doctor fire me in a formal letter. in my case it was for removing a tumor from my arm that doctors liked to amputate the whole arm to ger rid of. that was 10 or 15 years ago and right now i am tyoing this review using that very arm. i admit that it has a bit of a timing issue so that i get letters mixed up with the ones typed with the other arm that has it's original swift brain to fingers reaction.later when i had a bad knee and the doctor who read the xray told me that ther was nothing i could do but try a few things the did that helped for a while, but in the end i would need a knee replacement. i told him that i would regrow the cartlide. now my knee has been fine for several years, though sometimes i get a bit nervous about injuring it if i don;t be careful getting on the roof or hiking a roudh path, so i do wear an elastic support just to be on the safe side.but what i do know is that people can heal health issues that doctors say can no tbe cured. i have been doing reviews on books i read related to a high blood sugar reading.and ther are very few doctor/writers that ever open their minds to face things different from what they were taguth in medical school.i had fired a doctor that was a bully awho, among other things listed that i had 3rd degree kidney disease, though he had never mentioned it to me, and i never had a symptom of kidney disease, even all my tests showed i was in the range considered normal. i did not waste the time to ask him why, i changed doctors.this is a book by someone who was told he had so long before he would have no choice to go on dialysis by i think 1990, yet he has not done so and is now in the range not considered to have a kidney disease. forgive me if i do not cite his exact words.some of the things he did i accept without question and am doing myself because he made so much sense about other things i knew enough about to know they were good choices.i would have figutred out enough by myself to get my kidneys back to normal, but i will do so faster and easer from having the story of his journey to follow. he had one or two doctors who were on his side, who were willing to not pretend to not see the fact that he was getting better when all are required to say the condition is incurable.who ever you are , and what ever you believe, if you are told you have kidney disease you should read this book and chances are you will find some of his suggestions will give you better test results, and i believe that everyone has a chance to reverse their situation and get better instead of worse. it may be that your doctor is not one who will support your efforts along side what he can do for you that is manistream, which the author also did. but you don;t have to tell that you read the book, say it was a miracle.there ae new ways coming out that seem to do better than traditional treatments for some conditions, and it owuld be a shame to not at least know what they are if it is possible some of them will help you to get btter than you would if you did not know about them. one of them is to never drink anything with high fructose corn syrup in it. i stopped drinking that stuff a decde ago on general principles. the author, Terry, found out fron drinking them again why it was not good to do so, ans stopped for good. i am a person who also learns soeme things serving as a bad example, so i know for a fact they are bad. other things i accept the opinion of people whose judgement i respect based on experience, and save myself a lot of trouble. i got several othe books on kidney stuff that may have been slightly helpful, but this one is the one that showed me clearly what i need to do to get better while nto haviing doctors bully me or scaring me thank you terry!

HYPERTENSION AND KIDNEY DISEASE
Written by a good researcher who became the first person to reverse hypertension and kidney disease simply by identifying toxic substances listed on the back of the foods and drinks that he was consuming. He learned how his foods resulted in altering his acid alkaline balance despite the fact he thought he was eating a healthy diet. He also stopped ingesting foods and drinks that contained high fructose corn syrup. He discovered that his blood pressure dropped when he removed the heavy metals out of his body. This encouraged him to filter out his water supply. HMT General Kit is a test kit available to tests for the presence of 8 heavy metals in ones water supply. This Osumex test kit also tests positive when mecury leaks from ones amalgam dental fillings into their saliva. I never tried it so I cannot recommend it. To easiest way to start a diet when you have kidney failure to read 10 Step Diet & Lifestyle Plan for Healthier Kidneys Avoid Dialysis ISBN-10: 0615322328. This shows you how to manage blood pressure, protein, potassium, phosphorus, anemia, etc. (See her other books). The third most important book is pH, HCL, and Blood Sugar as Determining Factors in Health and Disease ISBN-10: 0981584047. This book details the relationship of stomach acid (HCL) with E Coil poisoning, anemia p80, antacids p84, excess sodium p88, Vitamin B1 Thiamine decomposition p114. and blood oxygen capacity increase p116. (See his other books). This diet requires Saliva and Urine PH testing. I found Rapid Response Urine Dipstick 10SG 10 parameter - Urinalysis Reagent Strips Bottle of 100 works well. It tests Glucose, Bilirubin, Ketone, Specific Gravity, Blood, pH, Protein, Urobilinogen, Nitrite and Leukocytes. To find out what vitamins and minerals are lost when taking prescriptions see: Supplement Your Prescription: What Your Doctor Doesn't Know About Nutrition ISBN-10: 1591202272. To verify whether or not heavy metals cause high blood pressure and whether or not its removal will help in kidney disease see (dvd) Know Your Options: Heavy Metal Toxicity, THE HIDDEN KILLER. A good source of background information about how heavy metals affect the heart is written in Magnesium the Ultimate Heart Medicine Mark Sircus (Epub format requires free software called Calibre to read on your computer and kindle). See your doctor for questions about pre-dialysis chelation therapy. All information is intended for your general knowledge only and is not a substitute for medical advice or treatment for specific medical conditions.

Not sure how to rate - please read review prior to purchasing
PLEASE purchase this book knowing that while the author has some valid points and ideas to consider, it is hard to take him seriously. I am an avid reader but spell terribly. I rely heavily on spell and grammar check but this is a difficult read. Some of his points certainly have merit but I found it tough to sift through the ranting and ravings. Entire book feels disjointed and very redundant. I wish the editor could have gotten the authors content a bit more focused and organized. I purchased on my Kindle and have highlighted the content that I feel is worth absorbing. I'm sure there are much better books available regarding Renal complications / Renal health but I was in the hospital with my 24 year old searching for everything related to Renal issues I could find. I can't say DON'T purchase this book but do so knowing you will have to read it with a grain of salt ... absorb the positive information and leave the rest behind.

NOT 'cured' - 'managed'.
His book was an extremely long, repetitive rant. The book could have been 1/4 the size it and still contain plenty of his preferred rant. He often gives conflicting information, saying “do this”, but then describing what he does, and it isn’t that. Also, it is not good for a person with severe kidney disease to take that many supplements, as the damaged kidneys can not handle all that. As far as him ‘curing’ himself, NOT true. A diabetic isn’t ‘cured’ simply because insulin shots brings their blood sugar down to normal, and neither is a persons severe kidney disease ‘cured’ because of large doses of medications and a low protein diet. It is ‘managed’ - not ‘cured’.

Repetitive!!!
Nice book, lots of tips.Good for one time read only , because all what you take out of it are simple procedures you need to do to cure your kidneys.I am not sure that he really offers a cure, but rather a method to rest and not overload the kidneys.I do recommend any one interested to keep his kidneys functioning and safe to read this man's experience on the subject, but get ready for repetitions over and over and over again... I am glad I bought it as a kindle version, because not worth to occupy a space on my bookshelf :)

Amazing Guy! I am a Natural Nutritionist and appreciate ...
This is one book we all need to read, no matter whether we have kidney disease as yet or not ! Terry has had Chronic Kidney Disease, stage 5....and was so near to dialysis treating his kidneys................and, was able to turn his life around. Amazing Guy !I am a Natural Nutritionist and appreciate this book perhaps more than most. My husband - four years ago this month (22nd July) had a heart attack and was rushed to hospital for angioplastie = just made it to High Wycombe Hosp (UK) . So he had angiogram which means toxic dyes were used and they ended in acute kidney failure due to the toxic dyes putting his kidneys into shock. He survived all this but is now in a state of Chronic Kidney Disease (stage 5) with high potassium levels (5.8 --> 6.0 which is hyperkolemia and that has it's own side effects)In a nutshell...........we almost lost him twice in the following months and no-one thought he would see Christmas that year. Beginning of December we decided to take him home as we could see the end of him coming nearer each day. With the help of our amazing family doctor we brought him home with c-diff virus and MRSA and I became his carer. To fast-forward four years he is now off all medication, apart from sodium bicarbonate, and the right nutrition and supplements and his kidneys have been stabilised, albeit at 14 GFR. = which means : a healthy kidney has two jobs 1) filtering blood and 2) filtering body fluids and everything the liver detoxifies and sends by way of kidneys. But his kidney filtering stations (glomeruli) are only able to cope with (in his case from 10 - 14%) filtering rate.............but we are doing our best to keep it in this range = so far, so good !It is so true as Terry says : most doctors are willing and are trying to be helpful but they are working to a system which is NOT PATIENT FRIENDLY. and we need to be informed and know what we can expect. Just because someone calls himself a doctor, wears a white coat and stetoscope round their neck does not mean the have all / or any answers..................believe me = they don't. We had a horrific time in hospital and my husband never wants to see another one ever again, so I became his carer, which was four years ago now = gone are the asprins and statins (lipitur) which have their own story to tell ! We are the lucky ones and I am so thankful that I have the knowledge I have !So I would say: get this book and read it. We live in a toxic environment in every which way................and every one is heading for kidney collapse and liver problems. There is only one law in Nature: What we push down our throat has only one of two outcomes = it either nourishes our cells or poisons them and the liver and kidneys have a big job on.Never blindly trust anyone with your health = ask questions so you can get informed answers and then it is up to you what you do with that, right ?So = self-responsibility for our health has got to be taken. This book is written in a very readable way and everything he has said so far is the absolute truth = nearing the end of the book now = amazing chap, he put a lot of research into this which I can totally verify . this book and couple of others which I might review later should be in every mothers home, like the family bible used to be , to protect her family = her children.I am a Practitioner of the Art of Natural Nutrition...............and thank Terry for all his hard work and wish him well, bless him !

It was good to get comments from someone other than my healthcare ...
I bought 3 books on Kidney Failure. My goal was to become more empower and get information from a source other than the Kidney Foundation.Mr Cooksey's book had some merit. It was good to get comments from someone other than my healthcare kidney team.My regular family Doc is an alternative medicine MD, he is on a well deserved summer vacation and so I want to discuss with him the Dr Moskowitz concept.I have lived with a Candidiasis diagnosis for the last 31 years and my family Doc saved my life on that front. My nurse practitioner at the Nephrology clinic had never hear of Dr Moslowitz. Regular and alternative medicine have a hard time coexisting. One of my clients is Chinese doctor with an expertise in Accupuncture. She had suggested the Cilantro boiling of and 1 glass of the liquid every day for the maintenance of my kidneys. This method was mentioned in your book. She in facts practices it on herself because she was just completed a regime of chemotherapy and the drugs are hard on a cancer patient's kidneys. Thanks for the book, knowledge is power. The US medical system compared to universal coverage Canadian system sounds like it is a mind field from a financial point of view to traverse.FYI, I was quoted that the 3 X 4hrs per week hospital dialysis has a cost of $450.00 Cdn per session. I have friend in Oregon whose husband was affected by Agent Orange during the Vietnam war, a retired air force officer who was on dialysis and his health plan was charged $3,000 US per day for the same thing. Dr Moskowitz's mystery recovery protocal is a big thing for all kidney failure patients. Especially those in the US or in a Canadian town with poor or non existence treatment facilities. Have a great weekend.
