High quality tamper
Bought this to complement my Sage Barista Pro tamper and it’s light years better. The quality and consistent tamping results in better cup of coffee - one variable nailed thanks to it! As I upgraded to a 58mm machine, planning to get the 58mm version of this tamper - great value for money!

Superb value & Great Tamper
For the money, this is by far the best route to go down if you're looking for a calibrated, self levelling tamper. It really does take a key step that could go wrong (puck levelling) out of the equasion with ease. Feels nice and weighty, and also relatively easy to push down to tamp using the pre-installed 25lb spring. For quite some time I've used a 30lb spring tamper but I actually feel the 25lb spring is not only easier and feels nicer to push down, but gives the same result as my 30lb calibrated tamper. Works perfectly dosing 18g in a standard 58mm portafilter basket. On a side note, if this spring had the audible 'click' and technology that's found on the "The Force Tamper" which retails at £170, this would literally take over the market. As it stands there's no built in audible click that'll tell you once you've hit your correct pressure. That said, once you compress the tamper down to tamp, you do hear an audible noise of sorts as the parts meet, and you can only tamp as far as the tamper lets you so as long as you're compressing all the way down, you know you're getting the pressure of whatever spring you've got installed. If you're not able to compress the tamper all the way down, it's likely you're dosing too much coffee into the basket.

Excellent budget calibrated Tamper
I have read some reviews here that describe this as cheap and plastic. Neither are true. It’s a fully metal construction and is of a premium quality of materials and build. The tamper itself is a ridged type and solid metal. It has a range of springs included to set your own preferred tamping pressure. What is less talked about is the guaranteed perpendicular approach because of the fitment to the top inner of the portafilter basket. My personal issue which prompted my purchase wasn’t pressure but rather pressing at a slight angle, which caused over extraction of one edge of the coffee puck. This tamper from Normcore completely eliminates this as it fits level onto the top of the basket and sits slightly inside the basket to so the alignment is perfect. This combined with the spring of choice delivers exact, precise and repeatable tamping every time.Compared to other similar options I believe this to be a good value/quality prospect.

Nice tamper - would choose the flat next time though
Lovely tamper, works great and doesn’t leave grounds on the walls like some so tolerances and size is great for 58mm. Not sure the rings make any difference though other than making it harder to clean so personally would choose a flat tamper next time

Normcore coffee tamp
Love it! Taken coffee tamping to a new level for me! Never leaves any grounds on the side of the basket. I highly recommend!

Excellent product
Sage Oracle Touch started not to tamp to my satisfaction, so bought this. Very pleased and like the rings it forms in the puck which i cannot prove improves things but I’m happy to believe it does. Well designed and has heft.
