This thing works great!
I just made the baking soda water 1 tsp per cup of water just like it said and I painted it on the wood with the brush, nice brush btw, and laid the leads down and it worked flawlessly. I was slightly skeptical when I read a few negative reviews but I bought it anyway considering the generous return policy and I'm glad I did. I'm not super sure it's much safer than using a microwave transformer but having done both it does seem way safer. And judging by the amperage that it pulls I tend to think it may not kill you if you screw up but I'm sure the microwave transformer will. So this feels better to me.

Measure out the proper water to baking soda ratio, Take your time
The media could not be loaded. Love this; best $100 I’ve spent in a long time. Great work I’ve made a few things with this so far and the outcome has been pretty amazing.10/10 recommend just take your time follow the instructions when it doesn’t seem to be working, just hold the peddle down, if you put to much water to baking soda ratio on a area use brush to smooth it out. Don’t let rods touch hold the peddle down not aggressively it is plastic. It will catch once it does just let it do its thing then move to the next area. I wish the foot peddle was sturdier than it is but that’s okay it does its job. Not disappointed yet! Enjoy and have fun!

Garbage
Don't waste your time or money, set it up exactly to the directions. I know how to use it, I've used the microwave transformer version for years and I've made my own setup. My transformer recently blew a winding, so i decided to go the "safer" route and I couldn't be more disappointed. This thing is nothing compared to the microwave version as in it did absolutely nothing at all!!! Again, don't waste your time or money.

Effective!
This did exactly what I wanted to do for my Jacobs ladder. Installation was flawless and My students even got to enjoy learning about AC voltage and make some wood burning art, prior to the Jacobs ladder.

Works Good, but...
So if you're interested in this machine you probably already know that fractal burning is super dangerous. I bought this because it has a couple safety features that I liked. However, the safety features in my opinion were not very well thought out and still leave plenty of room for bad things to happen. So, this machine has two cords... a cord with an on/off switch that comes from the transformer and a cord with a "kill switch". When connected properly, the cord with the on/off switch plugs into the cord with the kill switch which in turn is plugged into an electrical outlet. The cord with the on/off switch must be set to on and the kill switch must be pressed to activate the electrical charge. So, two issues... First, the cord with the on/off switch that plugs into the cord with the kill switch uses a standard outlet plug to plug into the cord with the kill switch. The problem with this is if you're not paying close attention you can accidentally plug the cord with the on/off switch from the transformer directly into an outlet which totally bypasses the kill switch. Second issue... the on/off switch is very poorly marked as to which position its in (on or off). So, if you have the on/off switch in the on position and accidentally plug this cord into an outlet, you bypass the kill switch and electrical current is immediately sent to the probes. These issues could be easily remedied. One, the cord that comes from the transformer that has the on/off switch that plugs into the kill switch cord should be wired with a different plug instead of a standard plug. This would prevent you from plugging it directly into an outlet and prevent you from bypassing the kill switch. Two, wire in a small light of some kind that indicates the switch is set to the on position so it's easier to see. Two easy fixes that could save someone's life. Otherwise, this machine does what it's supposed to and makes some great designs .

Good for intricate burning
It appears to be safe. Not a deep burn. But very delicate intricate burns. I use this after burning deep with the microwave transformer machine I built.

Works great
This fractal wood burning kit contains everything you need to get started on this great hobby . I was strictly new to this and now that I am learning more I am glad I did not try to make one from a microwave transformer . I am also glad that I ordered the 15,000 volt kit instead of the 10,000 volt one.
