Hefty and universally useful
I've grown to enjoy using cleavers over traditional Chef knives, especially when dealing with a variety of chopping tasks, slicing, and on the fly line work. This is a large and quite useful all-around cleaver, that works great for a fast moving Chef.Thick blade material, lustrous finish, and a very traditional Chinese cleaver feel. Not quite as heavy as a traditional one, but heavy enough. Definitely a beater that's worth keeping.

Big cleaver for a little price
This is a HUGE cleaver. Dimensions are exactly as advertised. The 9" blade is indeed a full 3mm thick, and the whole package weighs almost 1.5 pounds on my kitchen scale. More on that in a bit. The blade has a nice taper, right down to the edge. The handle, advertised to be pear wood, was a bit dry on mine, but that's nothing a little linseed oil didn't fix.A word on the edge - it came reasonably sharp out of the box but I felt it needed a little touch up. Most people might not notice, as it cut well enough for the usual kitchen tasks, but a little work on a polishing stone had it shaving sharp. The steel (blend of 8cr13 and 4cr13, according to the ad) seems to be holding that edge well.It is heavy. This is not a scalpel. As I mentioned, almost 1.5 pounds on my scale and you feel every ounce. That will wear on you after a while, especially with everyday use. The handle feels good in the hand, and the design allows you to choke up on the blade very effectively. Even with the weight, it's supremely usable. I was able to cut some very thin slices of various foodstuffs with it.It's great for vegetable or meat prep, especially if you're cooking for 3+ people. The long and wide blade is great for chopping and dicing large quantities, and is good for transferring your food from the cutting board to the pan. I won't use this for all my kitchen cutting tasks every day, but I will use it a lot.UPDATE: After using this cleaver for a few weeks, I still think it's a great buy and a solid value. It holds an edge well, which is a bonus. It mows through vegetables and slices meat cleanly. It is great for rocking cuts and it looks good, too. However, I've noticed that the top edge of the cleaver has a very square profile, and this can bite into your hand of you choke up on the blade, which is how I grip it most frequently. This is just something to be aware of, and on mine I softened the edge with a little light filing. This is turning into one of my favorite pieces of kitchen cutlery.

crack
Somehow there is a crack after 1 month of use. but I only use it to cut vegetables and beef loins, never bones.

Not an ordinary "Chinese cleaver"
This is a lovely knife, but it is not the typical 7” x 3” Chinese cleaver used to cut vegetables. I have been looking for a 9” x 4” cleaver and it’s the only one available at a realistic price. Beautifully made and finished. It’s a heavy duty chopper used with a “hammer like” motion as opposed to the sawing motion of the smaller and lighter “Chinese cleavers”. I’m going to use it for chopping larger and heavier items like pulled pork and quantities of onions, etc. That said; it is a terrific value and a tool with a specific purpose.

Large Meat Cleaver
The website says it's a "Vegetable Cleaver Chinese Chef Knife", but nobody is going to chop vegetables with this thing! For that, you will want a chef knife or a santoku knife. This is a Large Meat Cleaver! It's sharp, and its non-stick coating works well. The weight of the meat cleaver makes it the perfect tool for breaking down large pieces of meat into manageable chunks, or section large carcasses. You could use it for particularly tough vegetables, or to smash garlic. It has a large surface area, much more than a chef knife. The wide blade can be used to easily scoop up ingredients such as vegetables to transfer to a bowl. Some meat cleavers have a hole so you can hang it on a hook. This does not have one. I would like to know if it's dishwasher safe, but it does not say.

Love it.
Very sharp and right size and weight for what I need. Nice and heavy but not too weighty.

Very Sharp and heavy duty
This 9" Butcher knife is on point. The description is not a great "fruit knife". It is a very good quality butcher's knife that is very sharp. The weight of the 9" blade is very sharp. It makes cutting and slicing any type of prep a with very little effort.I would recommend it if you are looking for a good butcher's general kitchen knife.
