Quick grilling!
This was perfect for a portable butane grill! We just used it for the first time to cook three thick cut steaks and was surprised it did the job just fine. I also liked that it indirectly covered the flames as that helped with making sure not to burn the food

It's good, but it's grilling inside, which inevitably causes a lot of smoke.
It's good. Well made. But I think I am not as inclined to use it as much inside because of the amount of smoke. I think I'm going to get a butane torch from Iwatani next, and just cook in another way that produces less smoke (e.g. air fry, oven, etc.) and then torch at the end. I could torch next to a window really quickly or step outside for a moment to do it. Much more convenient, and I don't need to open all the windows for an hour afterwards.

Work Well for Medium-High Heat Application
Used once and it already impressed me to no ends. Grilled lamb ribs and it has the right balance of char and juiciness. Used on different stove and gas canister brands. Definitely go for Iwatani gas canister. They burn hotter than the lower priced canisters. However, don't expect this to have the same taste as binchotan charcoal grill. Far from that.

Skip the workout and get disposable mesh grill
We had a wonderful time grilling in the backyard with this product and the meat came out perfectly juicy and delicious. We much prefer the charred marks on our meat à la yakiniku style over the Korean bbq plates with no holes in the middle. The material is durable and good quality. Due to this style of grilling, do expect copious amount of smoke. Best suited for outdoors grilling (yard, balcony, common grounds, public parks, etc.) or very well-ventilated kitchen. Product comes with 2 mesh grill plates but we find it more convenient to order extra of these so we can just toss them when done cooking. They are incredibly hard to clean once used and the elbow grease required is just not worth it. The mesh plates can be purchased in bulk for as little as $6 for 5 plates.Pros: produces beautiful charred marksCons: very smoky, hard to clean mesh plates.

Iwatami grill works but difficult to use
I used this grill with a 15K BTU GasOne portable butane stove for cooking yakitori. Unpacking the unit, I noticed that the grill screen (two grills are included) was convex in shape to provide clearance for the domed circular central heating plate. That is to say you cannot flatten the grill screen or replace it with a grill screen that is not similarly shaped. I discovered that this feature makes it difficult to position the yakitori sticks in other than radial orientation like spokes on a bicycle wheel. Further, the screen easily rotates which may result in unintended motions resulting in the food rolling off the grill. My clumsiness in moving the food around definitely contributed to the issue.A positive aspect of the Iwatani grill design is that heat is effectively transferred, resulting in temperatures sufficient to ignite the bamboo skewers, and scorch the food (in a good way). I used the grill with my stove at max, presumably 15K BTU level (I didn't measure). There was lots of smoke. The liquids exuded by the food, dropping onto the heating plate resulted in more smoke, and liquidized fats will also ignite causing yet more smoke. The yakitori tare contains sugar which, when dripping onto the heating plate, formed large carbonized deposits which can be a pain to clean - but that's a given with any situation with heat and sugar. These are the sorts of behavior that one experiences in a charcoal barbecue, so demonstrates how this gas-heated grill can come close to a "real" fire in some aspects. In summary, this grill definitely will emulate the kind of results you would expect from a charoal fire. The circular design, with the convex grill screen presents some issues with orienting the food and the stability of the food while cooking. If you're agile and not bothered by careful manipulation required (IMO) you will be happy with this item.

As same as bbq in restaurant
This Korean grill pan is definitely worth it—just like the ones used in restaurants. We usually barbecue in the backyard since it produces a lot of smoke indoors. It’s perfect for gatherings with friends, and it’s also very easy to clean.

Exactly what I needed for grilling Omochi rice cakes, Japanese Style! Fits on most butane grills.
I am a Professional Home and Personal Chef and I also teach cooking skills. I take all of my kitchen items, tools, utensils, knives, serving items and other accessories very seriously and when I test and review culinary items, I am highly critical and meticulous in evaluating and rating them. My reviews are honest and unbiased. Good is good…bad is bad!I cook all kinds of foods on many different cooking systems. This Grill Plate from ABURI is perfect for my use in grilling Omochi Rice Cakes the way the Japanese do. I lived in Japan for many cumulative years, and I have missed the taste of those pounded rice cakes that start billowing up on a grill and then great chewy flavor with a bit of soy sauce and grated Daikon (Japanese White Radish.) In Japan, omochi is a New Years tradition, but I like it anytime, so when I found this Grill plate, it was perfect for my intended use.It fits well on my propane 15,000 BTU outdoor grill and the heat distribution is superb. Iwatani is a Japanese company that specialized in products like this and small grills and stoves. Absolutely perfect.Take care to clean and immediately dry after use to prevent corrosion or rust. A very light rub of a veggie oil after use will keep it in top shape. This is clearly a FIVE STAR item in my view, and if used and cleaned as suggested, it should last indefinitely. I can honestly recommend the Grill Plate if you have the products to cook that do well on this type of accessory.
