It is noisy but works well
It made a 20°C difference on both my gaming laptops, which improved performance by some 30% on one of them and prevents it from shutting down without warning, which was the main reason why I got the cooling pad in first place. It is noisy, however, even with headphones. One laptop is larger, heavier, so the noise level is reduced compared to the other one, to a point it's bearable with headphones. The other is slightly smaller and lighter, leaving a gap at the front, from which wind and noise can escape, so I had to cut out my own foam to seal the laptop properly and reduce noise. The lower fan settings produce a noise that is much more noticeable and annoying than the max setting. So, I ended up opening the cooling pad to inspect the fans, to see if I could upgrade them, and found out that despite the good craftmanship, they are fitted upside down in a tight space, and unfortunately there's no easy fix, because they only fit in one way. The suction side of the fan is pressed against a cruciform support, leaving a tiny gap for air to go in and giving it a grinding noise due to the blade high passing frequency. When the fans are detached from the pad, they are much quieter and the grinding noise magically disappears. The entire pad acts as an echo chamber and amplifies the sound. Thus, I'll eventually try to install a thin layer of foam inside the enclosed spaces, away from the circulation paths, to see if it can absorb the noise. I might replace the fan screws with rubber supports, and apply foam where the fan casing touches the unit to see if helps too. Besides the noise, the unit works well.

Excellent cooling for high intensity work or gaming
I purchased this as my laptop was getting too hot to handle or type on even with using a laptop riser. I can't afford to replace it just yet so decided to try a cooling pad. I've looked at quite a few products and had some in the past that made very little difference, but the reviews for this one were good so I thought I'd try it.Wow, what a difference it makes! My laptop was very hot when I mounted it to the cooling pad, as in I was getting concerned it would burn me. 20 mins later, running the same software and programs as before, it's cool to the touch, and I'm no longer concerned it's going to burn me or my desk. It's not silent, but for the fans to actually do their job in cooling it, I wasn't expecting it to be. It's no worse than running a fan in the room and playing some music drowns out the noise effectively. It runs off a USB and in my case I plugged it into an external power socket to alleviate the power drain on the laptop itself. The foam padding is great at creating an effective seal to really push the air through the laptop. I also like that it comes with air filters for the intakes at the back.So overall, it genuinely works and I can highly recommend it for cooling down a laptop.

Noisy!
Did not like this one at all, it is very noisy on any setting and from 1-3 there is a very annoying drone! It is probably a perfectly good cooler if you always wear a headset but for me it was just annoying. Looks and feels good quality. Be warned when using the foam, check where your heat exhausts from before buying!

All Ya Need Is Love..............And A Klim Everest! :)
This is the only one of three fan bases that I have bought which seems to be worth the money up to now. It has six power settings which get louder as you increase the power, and whilst Level 5 sounds like a hairdryer, and Level 6 (max) is akin to the engine of one those flat boats that scoot across the Florida Everglades to show alligators to tourists, Level 1 is barely more noticeable than the usual noise of the laptop's internal fan 🙂 I have a gaming laptop which has an inbuilt safety precaution that turns the screen off, pauses the game, and goes into sleep mode if ever the temperature of the processor etc reaches a certain degree of heat, but unlike with the previous two fan bases that I tried, which basically made no difference at all, my laptop has so far never needed to switch off since I started using this Klim Everest one 🤞😅 I haven't actually needed to increase the power past Level 1 (min) either yet - which is pretty astonishing since some of the more demanding and 'processor heavy' games were occasionally causing the safety precautions to activate every half hour or so without a fan base, or whilst using the two other brands!! 😖🤬😅 At around £54, this cooling base was almost the same price of the other two that I've tried combined, but, and this is a big 'but', they didn't do what I bought them for, and up to now, this one does. So with all this said, I will definitely recommend the Klim Everest - in fact it's the ONLY one that I can recommend while keeping a straight face at the same time! 😂😃 Hope this helps you out, take care out there - wow, that even rhymes!! 😅🤣 x see less

Not good quality, very disappointed
I regretted buying this one but couldn't return it because I took it apart to see why it was so noisy. The fans are miniscule and the wiring was a dog's dinner internally. Mine sounded like a microlight engine and was shaking itself to bits. The vent covers on the inside were coming unscrewed from the fan motor vibrations and the control buttons were not that responsive either. It was very agricultural. I replaced it with another more premium cooler and took the hit on this, it's now in the e-waste skip. Also the single plastic card style front support isn't really tall enough and the rear intake shields didn't actually fit in the storage slots underneath either
