DON'T BUY THIS. I'm not kidding.
I looked forward to this book from the moment it was announced. This story by Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli redefined Daredevil even after Miller had already redefined the character years earlier, and in my opinion, it has not been surpassed in the years since. So, please understand, I have NO problems with the work. But the presentation of this work is TERRIBLE. For reasons unknown, instead of centering the art on the page, Marvel decided to add an inch-wide blood-red border to each page's outside edge. This serves no useful purpose whatsoever. Not only does it distract from the art, but it pushes the art into the spine, making it difficult to read text on the inside edges without forcing the book open as wide as possible (see attached photo). This is, to put it plainly, an incredibly stupid design decision. I've got their Warlock Gallery Edition, which features the art right in the center of the page, as it ought to be — and for that matter, the covers re-presented in the closing pages of this Daredevil book are also centered. It's like they made a deliberate decision to make this classic story hard to read. The book comes shrinkwrapped, meaning I've already opened mine and most likely I can't return it, though I'll be looking into doing so. But you should not make the same mistake I made. DO NOT BUY THIS until Marvel makes it right.

Gutter loss
As mentioned and shown in a previous review, this is not about the story and art but rather it's presentation. I was hoping to enjoy the art and story in it's beautiful large format, instead, I found myself flattening the book as much as possible because the inner margins are drawn into the gutter. Why they couldn't center the art on each page and run the footer and page numbers below is beyond me. You'd think that the production people of a gallery edition at Marvel would know better. Stick to the trades, hardcover or omnibus editions.
