Brilliant and timeless. A fascinating read that really makes you think about life and human emotions. Camus’s writing is simple but powerful, and the story stays with you long after finishing it. A must-read classic!

Au début j'étais étonné par la facilité de ce livre. J'ai lu La Peste il y a beaucoup d'années, quand j'étais à l'école, et cependant j'etais hereux d'être introduit encore une fois à Camus. L'indifférence de l'étranger est équivaloir à cette histoire qui contient les paradoxes si souvent associés avec cet auteur intrigant. Face à la morte actuelle on est toujours curiex d'en savoir la vraie réaction d'un homme tant résigné pendant toute la vie à son sorte. La lecture m'a donné beaucoup de plaisir.

Arrived on time, good condition, the book is obviously a classic

You don't know why, but you will keep reading, without really knowing where it is going. The author uses short sentences that keep the the reader alert. He uses that rhythm to describe the life of the protagonist with contrast, light and dark, cold temper and hot weather. Beautifully written, it brings the reader to think about important societal themes engraved in Europe culture like grief, friendship, the law, religion and death penalty. A must read for anyone learning french and it's culture.

good for French revision

I ordered this novel as I am studying for an A' level in French. The book is missing 4 pages but Amazon refused to replace this, send the pages or refund the purchase price because it was 'outside the returns period'. I explained that consumers are protected by the Sale of Goods Act as the product is not of satisfactory quality, nor is it fit for purpose. I was rebuffed twice before I could speak to a manager who also did not know the law and kept quoting their policy. She eventually said that she would make an exception but I would have to return the book. I said I could not because my examination notes are in it and my exam is only a month away. They refused to refund or replace. I even suggested they send me copies of the missing pages but this, of course, was not possible. I was kept hanging on the phone for 25 minutes. After a lot of arguing, it was eventually agreed that they would replace the book. Really terrible service from Amazon. This is also the second time that a book I have ordered has had pages missing. This does not instill consumer confidence. Really disappointed at the company's attitude and lack of customer care. Stressful situation with an examination looming.

Recomiendo este libro para todo aquel que quiera iniciarse en la obra de Camus y tenga un nivel intermedio de francés (B1-B2), ya que el texto es asequible y fácil de leer gracias a la prosa clara, concisa y precisa del genial Camus; al haber poca intertextualidad, no hace falta tener conocimientos culturales previos para abordar esta deliciosa lectura. Además, esta novela nos hace reflexionar sobre el lado absurdo de la existencia: el gran tema de la filosofía de este autor.
