To preheat, preheat oven to 380 Fahrenheit and place mat in oven for approximately 20 minutes. During this process, you may notice smoke. Do not be alarmed as this is normal and the smoke is non-toxic. The smoke is due to lubricants used in the manufacturing process being burned away. The preheating process prevents the lubricants from leaching into food and impacting the flavor. Once preheating is complete, allow the baking mat to cool and wash thoroughly using water and dish soap or place in dishwasher. I bought this set as an inexpensive gift for my wife and she’s enjoying it.Ours came with a baking mat, a thermometer, a cleaning brush, and a thank you note from the sellers. The mat works as you’d expect. It lifts whatever you’re baking off the surface and collects all the oils which we used to make gravy. It seems like it takes a little bit longer to cook with this but it worth it when the food comes out evenly cooked and crispy. We used the mat for so many things. We used it as a heat mat on the table and to open jars. I even used it upside down as a mold for some home made dog treats. The mat is quite big so we just trimmed it with some scissors to fit our baking tray. Cleaning can be a bit of a pain but the brush they include helps make that job so much easier. The thermometer works great tooOverall, I think it’s a great product. Its multipurpose and a great value for all the things you get in the set.
