I bought this product and originally gave it one star but Vinvoli immediately contacted me and gave me a full refund. Then they also sent me a new replacement pump plus two gifts. One gift was a cork screw, very welcome because my old one had just broken two days before. This new Vinvoli cork screw looks like it's built so well it will be a family heirloom. At first, I could not understand why my first pump wouldn't work when the product had 4.5 stars. Perhaps I got a defective pump, because that can happen. I later learned that apparently there are a few wine bottles that have too wide a neck to made a tight seal and that also could have been my problem. I have to say that I have never had an Amazon seller or any seller contact me to stand so solidly behind their product. The Vinvoli company obviously stands solidly behind their products. Six days ago, I received the replacement pump and have used it every day since. The pump is easy to use, you grab the neck of the wine bottle in your hand and hold the pump's open end against the Vinvoli stopper cork using your thumb and forefinger. Then you pump about 6 times more or less and you can feel the vacuum seal tighten the cork and extract the air because the pump gets harder to pump as the vacuum seal extracts air. The pumping pressure will tell you when to stop pumping. With the wine bottles sealed, I left them in the refrigerator for 24 hours. Every time I have opened a bottle the seal was intact. As you extract the stopper, you feel the pressure of the vacuum and then the seal breaks as air rushes into the bottle. Both red and white wine tasted perfect even after being opened and sealed several times as I drank each bottle of wine over 4 days. The pump is made from metal not plastic and is well built. I strongly endorse this product and the Vinvoli company, who stands behind their products and gives phenomenal customer service. I wish more sellers were only half as good as Vinvoli. I will be telling my friends and relatives about this product.

I’ve tried this on only one bottle, but it works. It’s a large bottle, so I noticed it required more pumps at the end of the bottle. Wine flavor remained consistent.

easy to use and store for use

I don't drink much wine but a couple of weeks ago I got this device and a bottle of rotgut. I want to use the green glass bottle and the vacuum this device pulls to protect photo developer from oxidation.I poured a small quantity of rutgut in a glass, took a sip, and immediately poured the remainder of the glass down the drain. I capped the bottle with one of the provided caps and used the device to suck the air out of the bottle. I pumped until it became hard to pump any more. Then I put the capped bottle away.A week later I got the bottle out to test it. When I pressed the valve in the cap I could not hear any air being sucked into the bottle. I again evacuated the air from the bottle and put it away.I just got the bottle out to test it again. I applied the pump and it was easy to suck air from the bottle. As I pumped I could smell wine odors in the air being sucked through the cap in the bottle. This time after fully evacuating the bottle I pressed the vacuum release valve I listened closely and I could hear air being drawn through the cap into the freshly evacuated bottle.It seems to me that the valves in the caps are not fully effective in preventing the vacuum from drawing air through them. I don't know how much air is getting in or how it will affect my developer or your wine.My plan, since I already have this stuff, is to use DustOff to displace any air in the bottle then cork it and pull a vacuum. Hopefully there will be enough DustOff, which is supposed to be heavier than air, left after the vacuum has been pulled to insulate the developer from any air that gets sucked through the caps.⭐⭐⭐ Is my base rating for a product that is fully functional and performs as promised.

Still not totally convinced on effectiveness. Very hard to hold + pump.But think their wine opener is the best on the market- having bought many different ones over the decades.
