These get you out of a dilly of a pickle!
I used these (albeit in a different size) to repair the threads on the brake mounts on my car after a mishap with my stupid impact gun that can destroy threads at will. Had it spinning the wrong direction and by the time I realised it had pulled all the threads out of the knuckle like a little spring (not unlike the v-coil itself lol). Kit comes with what you need, in a nice hard case that feels like it will survive quite well at the bottom of a toolbox unlike the options that come from the usual scumbags. Volkel make quality stuff, all parts of the kit are quality including the drill which is a blessing as it's an odd size and the size of the drill is critical to the tap working effectively. I've had no problems at all with the fastening after the repair, the repair itself was easy and holds full factory torque no problem. They do a full range of sizes and also a nice kit, I'd have no qualms recommending these for a pro garage as well as discerning driveway mechanics, machinists etc. I am sure there are benefits to the more fancy options like Helicoils or Timeserts, but they are just cost prohibitive for most applications and not so easy to get in the UK. I'd definitely say they are worth the bump in price over the cheapo ones. If you are drawing for the thread repair kit - it's already a bad day, don't make it even harder by using subpar options!

Really good quality and I recommend.
V-Coils for either repairing an existing thread OR adding a metal threaded insert to say a plastic or aluminium design to enhance the strength of the thread. Also use machines screws and the thread will be really snug and nice. This kit contains all the pieces and some sample V Coins to get started. Extra V-Coils can be purchased. Kit comes with drill and tap and also tools for inserting the coil etc.

Cheap helicoil sets that do the business
Use these regularly at work due to the ham fisted colleague’s that I work with stripping threads in our aluminium parts. Quickly drill out, tap screw in the insert and jobs a good one, like new again. Couldn’t live without it.

The only(?) M2 helicoil kit
I designed a part that was supposed to clamp together using M2 screws. The bottom half was drilled to the wrong size so I could not tap them to M2, luckily I discovered you can get M2 helicoils (or v-coils?). The kit worked fine. I did snap the tap but its my fault for not using enough cutting oil. I had to buy 2 kits anyway (despite the broken tap) as there doesn't seem to be any way to just buy the coils without the rest of the kit. Kit worked well, I would buy it again. I will try to avoid needing to though.

Easy to use - saved the day ( and my wallet)
New bike day ruined (much cursing) but this kit saved the day... I'd managed to destroy the threads for 3 of the pins on a brand new set of DMR vault pedals ( adding pins to match the colour of the bike), they're magnesium and I was very careful but still managed to bodge it. The kit was really easy to use and I had repaired the pedals and installed new pins inside 5 minutes. Saved a set of pedals worth >£100. You have to look really carefully to spot the repair. Simply drill out the hole to remove any remnants of old thread. Retap the hole and then screw in the coil. Everything you need is in the kit.
