Pretty easy to play, not elegant
This whistle was highly recommended for beginners by the chiffandpiffle web site for playability in an inexpensive unit. I am a rank, rank beginner, but compared to the Oak brand whistle I bought also I can tell you the Clarke is a bit easier to play all the notes. The Oak Classic has a slightly nicer sound, but lower notes are not so gracefully or easily made, which could be frustrating for a beginner. Also, the Oak Classic is made of seamless tubing, which is nice, while the Clarke is thinner metal and has a seam down the back, which bugs me a bit, but when I get good at this I will buy a much nicer whistle, like a Burke, which goes for over 240.00. Also, the Clarke 'silver' is not unpainted metal, but a metalic gray painted surface. Looks good and I found no flaws in the construction or finish. The case is shiny black fake leather imprinted with an alligator hide pattern. My suggestion to beginners and budget-minders is to buy this one to learn on and save up for something nicer when you get good.

Exceeded expectations.
This whistle came as advertised and a few days earlier than expected. The whistle has a very clear tone as expected with a Clarke. I was very pleased with the seller because to my suprise it was shipped out in a very timely fashion during the holidays.

Very Nice
Hall is an excellent seller, and I have done and will continue to do business with them. They're great. As for the penny whistle, I love it. It's simple to use, attractive and has a nice tone.

My first penny whistle was a Waltons - good enough for beginning
My first penny whistle was a Waltons - good enough for beginning, I guess, but oh my! The Clarke is like playing with power steering!
