Highly recommend this high-end high-quality bluray player
Really amazing 4k video plus great digital sound output. I hooked it up with a Samsung 4K TV and a fine Wadia DAC, and really enjoy the AV quality which is a significant leap from my previous Oppo 103D bluray player. In addition, the UI is nicely designed with a handy controller, which allows for very easy access to disc, network, and USB drive for media contents.

A great alternative to Oppo 203/5
Does everything it claims. It’s a 4K Disc spinner Blu-ray player without a DAC. Consequently it feeds bitstream directly via hdmi to my AV preamp. This means what you hear and see are unadulterated audio and video signals.Limitations lie in the complete lack of apps so hook up your favorite Roku Chromecast or Apple device to access those. I find the video signal sharp crisp and clear. But it can also seem a little too flat and 2D which suggests that contrast isn’t showing all the shades of grey available. My upgraded Oppo 103D is better in this regard but it’s not 4K of course.Interestingly I’m going to try a Pioneer LX88 BDP after upgrading because I’ve heard it’s better than this and better than the Oppo as well. Apparently Pioneer are not releasing their UHD model bdp for perhaps one year later.Returning to the Cambridge I can wholeheartedly recommend it given the commentary above.

Best Player
I bought this before they discontinued it, but this player was bought because the OPPO-203 was discontinued as well. This player brings life back into watching movies on my surround sound. My previous player, NAD, took a shit, so this replaced it. I couldn't be happier. Video is clear, and audio is crisp. A lot of other technical stuff makes this player awesome, but in simple terms, this player will not disappoint. Buy one if you can find it.

Oppo 203 at half the price!
Since Oppo is no longer making disc spinners (RIP Oppo the king is dead!) prices for their players have tripled. The 203 is going for $1500 now, which is absurd. Good news though! This IS the 203 minus the DACS and badge. Oppo makes this model for CA and they add their own bells & whistles. It looks nearly identical to the 203, same heavy construction and is probably better looking than the 203 (if you peel that cheezy "Great British Sound" sticker off). This is whats called a "digital transport", meaning it contains no DAC's (Digital to Analog Converter). It is strictly digital and does not touch the audio signal, which is great for audiophiles because it is a direct DSD streamer (add your own DAC/Receiver), color-free sound. There is a separate audio only hdmi output, but be warned this is not a separate transport for sacd like I thought. Plugging this up will force all audio through this channel, meaning you will lose video. Apparently this was designed for receivers without hdmi passthrough, so that you can run audio to your receiver and video to your tv separately. Go figure... Anywho, the main reason I got this is because it does Dolby Vision and HDR 10, soon to be updated to HDR10+. This is why you're spending $700 for a player. The cheaper players will do one or none of these. That being said, this is a great, high quality player with a heavy remote. Build quality is an 11. It contains no bloatware, no Netflix, Amazon, blah, blah blah, all the things your tv already does. It is striictly and purely a disc spinner, with network support of course. My only complaint (a miniscule one) is that for some bizzare reason, Cambridge decided to make the menu background a picture of some random dude (a decent looking guy?) with apparently no way to change it. I don't get it but hey, its still a great player worth every penny.

So I went to eBay hopefully to find a good used one
I was going to buy an OPPO 203 to replace my OPPO 103 until I realized they were out of production. So I went to eBay hopefully to find a good used one, or maybe even an NOS. Yea, good luck, used are $700/$800 starting bid and new are $1100 to $1800. Those units originally sold new for $550. So I started my online search. Somewhere along the way I read about the Cambridge CXUHD and how reviewers were giving it top ratings. Then I went to the Cambridge website where they explained that they were using the same basic design and format as OPPO and, that OPPO was working with Cambridge Audio to simplify the transition. So I bought it, and when it arrived I found the Cambridge appears absolutely identical to the OPPO except for logos. And even better its audio and video, in my opinion, are superior. So I paid $700 for a brand new unit that's as good in every respect as the OPPO---Am I happy?---You bet.

Outstanding 4k dvd player, too bad oppo is no longer making them.
Like everything on this dvd player, however I would have loved for the Cambridge to have included the 8 channel analog outputs like the oppo it was designed after. Fantastic player.
