It’s worth the purchase.
This is by far the best water bottle that I own. I have not encountered any smell. I use it when traveling because you never know what the water is gonna be like in a new place. The water quality and taste of the water is greatly neutralized and made palatable. It’s very functional and easy to travel with, but I attach a strap to the top by looping it around. It does not have a shoulder strap. My main complaint for this purchase is leakage. Because of the way that the sip top is designed when you open the bottle water can come squirting out the next time you use it if you do not blow down into it when you’re done before capping it.Typically, changing temperatures exacerbate this problem or opening it on an airplane.Overall, the value for the money is still really great because it is your own personal walking filter, allowing you to refill at any water station with peace of mind.

Don't wait- Buy it Now!!!
I love the new design of this water bottle. I bought the original one directly from LifeStraw a few years again and have carried it everywhere with me. Well about 6 months ago I noticed that the old design started leaking when on it's side, so when the new design came out I wanted to try it. I love that it now has a cap- that prevents leaking but also keeps the mouth part from being exposed. I drink a ton of water and LifeStraw makes the best filtered bottles for a reasonable cost. Their 2 part system means that the water is the cleanest best tasting that it can be. The filters work on tap water or water out in nature. It's easy to drink out of, sucking on it like you would with any straw. I <3 LifeStraw

Good water bottle, yet there's some flaws
I appreciate this water bottle as it helps me drink a lot more water during my shifts at work, and it helps water taste less metallic in my opinion. Although, I guess with good products you can always find some flaws with it.Flaw number one is, even if you go slightly above the "Max- 1 L" line on the bottle, if you put your straw in, it can overflow quite easily causing a mess. Especially if you put ice in the water.Flaw number two is, for some reason, every time I use this bottle and I get to halfway done with my water, some of the water backs up into the straw and forms at the very tip of the mouth piece so when you pick it up, water pours all over you if you tilt it slightly to drink out of it. I've had this happen on multiple occasions and I do not understand why, especially because it only happens when I get to the halfway mark, and it's not overfilled at all. Another thing I don't understand with this is the water keeps backing up into the mouth piece to the point where you have to drink out of it in order to get it to stop backing up and trying to overflow out of the mouth piece. I have to hold it straight in order to drink out of it when this happens because it'll just spill all over me.Flaw number three, is I believe what occurs with all filtered water bottles that come with a straw. The straw never reaches the bottom for some reason, I don't know if companies do this purposefully or they aren't able to make the filtered straw long enough to reach the bottom, but I am constantly having to remove the filtered straw and mouth piece all together to get the last ounce of water out of my bottle and am forced to drink the tap water that I put in my bottle, unfiltered. I wish companies would make their filtered straws long enough so they could reach the bottom.I can't say if my last flaw is a flaw or not, since it's more of a preference of mine and I learned this the hard way, but you definitely cannot put water mixes in your water with this bottle. I learned this the hard way when I put in a powder mix for some mango green tea flavoring for my water in my bottle and it left the filtered stained as well as it absorbed all of the flavoring but it became sour real fast and made all my future drinks horrible. I had to buy a replacement because of this. I guess I could've avoided this by maybe putting some fruit in my water or something if I wanted flavoring instead of the flavoring powders, but I feel as though even with fruit it would've absorbed the flavoring and made all my future drinks nasty. I guess that is the downfall of having a filtered water bottle though, and maybe I should look into getting a filtered water pitcher so I could put some fruit in there or something to have at home and not at work.Anyways, if you're looking for a good water bottle that has a filter and you can work around the flaws that I've found, this is the one for you.

Great
Good water bottles we used them on our trip to Costa Rica so the water didn’t hurt our stomachs. I’d say it filters out great, water tasted good and we never got upset stomaches and we were putting Costa Rica tap water in it. Only complaint is sometimes when you open the lid water squirts out the top but not a big deal.

Simple, functional, disability-friendly design that can be used anywhere!
I never write product reviews but was compelled to do so for this water bottle. It’s easy to clean, the screw-off top and handle is easy on stiff/sore hands, and it’s durable but lightweight, with a simple design that can be used with or without the straw filter. I bought another one for my partner who frequently travels to areas with less than ideal tap water, and he says it has made it infinitely easier to stay hydrated. Better still, it packs easily into a carryon so it can be refilled in airports—no more buying $5 bottled waters at the gate! I work with a lot of chronically ill folks who need to drink tons of water, and/or have joint pain and limited grip strength, and I have been recommending this bottle left and right for its simplicity and ease of use. Love when a company actually makes a product that is thoughtfully designed with accessibility in mind. If you are wondering if it’s worth the investment, I assure you it is.

Doesn't Handle Elevation Changes
Took this on a trip driving through mountains for 2 weeks. It didnt handle the pressure changes well. Water overflowed out every time I opened it. Even if i only filled it 25% full. The pressure would build up in the straw. To fix this, I'd have to unscrew the refill portion. But the pressure would make it really hard to open. And its so smooth with no finger grooves, so opening it is really hard when its pressurized.
