Prefer over paper pads, mainly for safety....
I love the cloth pads! I was wondering if my Chihuahua would know what to do with the cloth pads. But he loves to pedal on rugs so I figured he would love the cloth pads! He does excellent! It's so easy to tgrow two or three in cold water with a Gain and cold water, no Clorox, no fabric softener! I hang them inside on a rack in laundry room, or on patio in sunshine. They dry very quickly. Hubby and I have both slipped on the gel under the paper pads before. If you accidentally hit it wet! We still use them traveling, or if I haven't cleaned the cloth ones. I ordered about six different kinds. I love them all!

More then just puppys
It great if you have young kids or a dissabled person, my sister whos dissabled spits a lot and we use these to keep her from ruining the sheets. Been using them for as long as i can remember. Great, easy to clean right in the washer machine on you're regular cycle, can be dried in the dryer. You can fold them small to go in drawers. Honestly these things are amazing
