The lid was not fitted tight so there was some leakage of oils. A bit disappointed.

I've rated this on how pleased I am with results on resurfacing of some pine bedroom furniture (previously varnished and sanded back to bare wood). (I'm particularly pleased that the colour of the wax finish matches very closely other matching furniture where the varnish remains.) Obviously the colour match is neither here nor there to prospective users - except perhaps that it is even - but what it does allow me to do is compare the wax finish with the varnished one. And I much prefer the wax finish. In appearance it just seems to be in or part of the wood and not a coating on it (although of course it is). Obviously, again, the wax finish will not be as durable so would need reapplying more often. And that brings me to application. Wax is pretty forgiving but unless you're expert (not me) you'll find it hard work to get a good even finish if you leave the wax too long (and we're talking minutes) before polishing. So my advice would definitely be to work quickly and/or in small sections. Given that constraint and many light applications you can build up the depth of colour and level of shine you want. (It's said that if you start with sanding sealer you can ultimately achieve more shine - I didn't try or want that.)
