Q: Have a Jack Russell dog are these gates suitable for preventing escape when they are shut?

To be honest it probably depends how the gates are hung, our drive is sloping therefore we have a gap of approx 6” at the bottom of the gates to allow for the slope when the gates are open (if that makes sense). Don’t know if this helps at all 😊

According to your advertisement the GAP should be 2743 i.e. 9ft. If the GATE ( not the gap ) is 2710 it would probably work . It looks as though the measurements are the wrong way round . If what your client says is correct the gate would be too wide for the gap .

Q: where can I buy matching metal posts with the correct fixing slots?

Don’t know we fixed them into brick pillar.
