Wish I’d tried this brand sooner
The router seems to have good coverage, the speeds we got through this thing exceeded our expectations. This is the easiest router to set up that I have owned. I liked the user interface when setting it up on the laptop. I also like their app.

So far, so good..
I generally like ASUS products--this is no exception. Easy setup. It just works. It's allowed me to maximize the speeds in my apartment. Network speed is kind of hampered by infrastructure but out of the box I've almost doubled the available speed over my last router.

Capable Little Router for Simple Needs
For anyone who just needs to connect to the Internet simply and securely, then this RT-AX57 will readily deliver. Either the companion app or web ui (both fully featured) will easily get things up and running, and the built-in, FREE antimalware offers an extra layer of protection if not peace of mind. Performance, for the most part, was great, although in my case, not perfect. Signal was strong throughout my small Cape Cod style house. The router was in the first floor, north side of my home, and my PC is on the second floor, south side. My PC was able to fully utilize the entire 500down/20up Mbs of my data plan. My Pixel 6, with its relatively weaker antennas, hovered roughly around 300/18 at similar distances. That was with QoS turned off, however. With QoS turned on, no device, including one wired PC, would go past 270/16. My brother and I game regularly, and halving download speeds for multi-gig updates for our games was supremely inconvenient. Turning QoS off to get higher bandwidth introduced frequent lag spikes. Due to this, I sadly decided to return the RT-AX57 and replaced it with a much more capable (and expensive) Asus XT8 two-pack. The XT8 consistently delivers about 480up/18down with QoS turned on, which is expected since QoS should prevent a single device from hogging the entire bandwidth.I also had issues with a couple of smart bulbs and a smart plug regularly disconnecting. They are older models, however, and from an off-brand that I bought from 5 Below. These issues have been fixed with the XT8, but anyone with smart devices from reputable big brands I doubt would have the same issues. Still another reason for me to return the RT-AX57.If I lived by myself and didn't own a couple of off-brand smart appliances, I'd be plenty happy with the RT-AX57. It has all the perks of a basic WiFi 6 router (OFDMA, WPA3, enhanced MU-MIMO, 160Mhz, 1024 QAM, etc) with the addition of FREE antimalware, but the QoS and smart appliance issues killed it for me. I'd still recommend the RT-AX57, though, for households with modest needs.

Doesn't last long
Purchased on November 27, 2023 randomly connections/disconnects internet on all devices. Did a hard reset on it, worked for a a couple weeks but is once again doing the connect/disconnect on all devices. Not reliable past a year, apparently. Going to try a different brand now.

Great little router, working fine.
My new ISP told me 3 ASUS choices of routers that would work with their system (so I didn't have to "rent" theirs). This was the cheapest, about $100. So far it's working great, so I would have to say get this one.

self configured
This is the third one of these I have purchased. I can verify that the support is competent and available. And the functionality is great. VERY easy to setup. Pretty much configures itself to most any environment.
