Untether yourself from your amplifier
Excellent unit. Very low noise. I did look at some of the newer models that work over 2.4Ghz and WiFi, these are generally more expensive probably because of the digital technology involved. My colleagues that use the digital models them tell me they are also power hungry with batteries at the guitar (transmitter) end as well. This unit is UHF, and I assume analogue, not digital. I have wandered around a rehearsal room and been 10 metres away from the amp and it works really well. Not had any problems with it at all. Just follow the level setting instructions which are simple to follow. At the guitar end the clip on the back of the transmitter is a bit tough to open, but the cable is long enough to allow you to slip the transmitter into your back pocket. If you are considering one of these, do note that they come in three frequencies. If someone else has one on the same frequency, I am pretty sure your signal would be going into their amp and vice versa. So check with your band members and make sure your unit is on a different frequency. In my case a colleague has one of these and runs over ISM1. Mine is on ISM2. There is no interference at all. These units run at around 860MHz and therefore a long way from 2.4GHz used for Bluetooth and Wi fi B and G standards. In summary really pleased, and have had no problems with it at all.

Probably the second best musical item I have purchased this year
Probably the second best musical item I have purchased this year. I have been using it all month at most of my Christmas gigs and it has really impressed me and I still haven't had to change the battery. The WMS40 is probably the cheapest wireless microphone system on the market and sounds very much like an SM58 and also so easy to use due to the fact that it just uses one UHF Frequency, just simply plug and play. OK, so there is some handling noise but just leave it on a microphone stand or hold it gently in your hand whilst singing, that works for me. You also soon get used to the switch. I couldn't afford the wireless microphone system I really wanted but I have certainly not regretted my choice and have also put the expensive wireless microphone system on hold for the time being mainly because I simply don't need it now. I did a lot of research on the internet before buying and then took the plunge. They say that you get what you pay for, well I certainly got more for my money than I ever expected. I hope that this review helps you make the right choice. UH

Just works, no regrets
I'm just your average guy playing guitar in the spare room and sick of cables getting around my feet. I had fairly low expectations for this at the price I paid but Ive been pleasantly surprised. When it arrived I plugged it in, put the battery in the sender and it worked. No messing around. The sound is fine, its pretty quiet and not as noisy as cables have been in the past. The battery in the sender has lasted around 2 hours so far somehow which has been an unexpected bonus. There is some interference sometimes, it doesn't like my laptop using the powerline adapter near it so Imagine there are other things which would affect it. Range is more than ample, I tested it between upstairs and downstairs with no issues. Only downsides for me so far are the very flimsy sender unit, the abnormally long cable and the straight connection which I need to replace for a 90 degree one for a bit more usability

I love rock and roll with a queen finale of we ...
through my own stupidity I had a nightmare setting these up until I marked them 1 and 2 and fed them into ports 1and 2 on the mixer. then it was a case of wow as my daughter went through her set ( given by her vocal coach ) of everything from mary Hopkins those were the days through abba...gimme gimme gimme and on to joan jet ...I love rock and roll with a queen finale of we will rock you these mikes have handled everything thrown at them. I do recommend carrying spare batteries but only as a standbye. really think highly of these.

Works amazingly well
Just arrived so stoked to use it at gigs!An update to my prior review...This item still holds up well at gigs and surprisingly despite the stated range being short you can pretty much rely on having a decent signal no matter where you are within a large venue. Whether you're back stage behind walls or right infront of the receiver your signal gets through clean! My one issue is the AA batteries tend to die extremely quickly and I recommend that even if you use it every day to remove the battery from the transmitter to prolong life.Amazing product and is cheap would highly recommend!

Works Perfectly
Works perfectly no latency issue. Note the transmitter pack uses mini-xlr jack which you do receive a cable for connecting to a 1/4" jack from that format.Note if you want another set you will have to buy another version of this system so for three instruments you will need ISM1, ISM2 and ISM3 one per instrument of course if you're not needing volume or eq control over these you could always attach one to say the output of a mixer/desk which has multiple inputs.

Excellent. Was originally looking at the Line 6 unit as successfully used by our bass player. However I did have a concern about battery life - clearly it is a bit of an issue if wireless turns into soundless during a gig! Saw the AKG unit and read and watched various reviews and was impressed by the battery life from 1 AA battery. Have used this several times since buying and haven't encountered any issues. The aerial on the transmitter is probably a weak point, but with a bit of care this little unit should last. I have not noticed any loss of quality by switching to wireless. I would recommend this - it is good.

Not great, had to return these.
Handling noise is far to high, microphones are plastic and the microphone capsules are not adequately isolated from the case. Sound quality is good but if both channels are connected up to a mixer and microphone 2 is switched off. Microphone 1 will keep opening the squelch for channel 2 causing clicks and pops on the audio output of channel 2. This is unacceptable.
