Best sharpening steel I have owned so far
First off: asked to rate presentation????? It’s a knife sharpener! It came packaged in a commercial style plastic case that from memory had to be cut open with scissors, as do lots of other products! So, ignore the 3 stars for the totally pointless question.Performance? Without a doubt this sharpening steel has been the best I have ever owned. I’m not a professional chef but do own a dog treat company, and even I get edges that can slice very thin sections easily through a multitude of vegetables. This steel has sharpened short paring knives to long general kitchen knives, European to Asian style blades. Basically, if I do ever get my fingers in the way I think it will be a trip to A&E for stitches....that’s how sharp a non professional can get knives with this.Longevity? It’s lasting longer than I thought after reading some other reviews, but as I’m not a professional chef perhaps my use is less than a commercial kitchen...that said, I’d still buy another one.

Incredible
I had a round steel sharpener that I have now found out isn’t a sharpening rod at all. Even though it’s marketed as one. This is what you need. All you need to do is hold the rod vertically. Slide the knife downward as you draw the blade across the rod. No need to do it fast. Just take it slow and 2 passes are all you need. My knives are now lethal so be careful how you use the knife afterwards. I should have bought this 2 years ago. Yes it’s a bit more expensive but it’s worth every penny

some people know, some don't know how to sharpen. not their fault.
i bought this out of frustration with another company that i had bought sharp items from for at least 20 years, knives, peelers.... graters, mandolins and the like, but one day they decided that i couldn't buy sharp things from them because ter******m, after 20 years or so, because i refused to jump through all their hoops to prove my age.... CHECK HOW LONG I HAVE BEEN A CUSTOMER!!!!i digress, sorry.Being a Chef, i happen to like sharp things, they make my life easier.... and things that make blunt things sharp make my life even easier.i can understand many people saying that it didn't work for them, i have off days myself where i can't feel how sharp a knife is.... having wet hands does not help.and i agree, this product does seem to lose its grit, but it is very good, i have brought suposed palette knives back to life as proper knives with this tool, perhaps the negative reviews are more aiming towards the technique, rather than the tool.it works for me, it might not work for everyone, but if you know how to work a steel..... you know :)
