Caran d'Ache76 pastel pencils + charcoal + grafwood pencil - coloured pencils 788.376

I have Carbothellos and FC pitts but wanted to treat myself. The pencils are creamy and layer well. Fantastic range of colours and good to know I can order singles to replace. One pencil with a broken lead

***UPDATE***Unfortunately I’m having to add a cautionary addition to my review.Before I bought this big set I had 8 individuals of these pencils, they worked beautifully and I was so excited to get the set.After purchase I didn’t use this set as I had other projects on the go.Yesterday Jason Morgan Wildlife Artist released a youtube review of this set.He was having issues with at least 6 of the set, being scratchy and not laying down colour. His video was followed by dozens of others reporting exactly the same issue.I decided I better get out the so far unused set and test them all to check if my box was ok.Unfortunately out of 76 pencils 10 were defective, I have attached pictures.This is very unfortunate for the most expensive pastel pencils on the market.I have returned my set as hopefully the seller will have better luck speaking to a rep from Caran d’ache than others with this issue have.I have lost all confidence in this brand, it really isn’t good enough for a company like this, at this price point to sell completely unusable products (I’m talking about caran dache, NOT the seller)I will stick to my carbothello and Pitts from now on.These pastels are often considered the rolls Royce of pastel pencils.They are beautiful and come in a range of gorgeous colours.As per usual for caran dache it's a cardboard box, but the nicest cardboard box you could imagine, each pencil is snug in its own little foam slot.You get a graphite pencil and a black charcoal pencil included in the set.These pastel pencils are incredibly soft, so I wouldn't use them on their own, you will need a harder option like pitts for detail.Sharpening is the other issue, they are very thick.I have a swordfish ikon that I use only for pastel sharpening. It seems like these pencils won't fit, but a careful push and they go in and sharpen nicely.I wanted the full set of these for so long, so I'm very glad I have them now

The pencils are absolutely lovely but some have obviously been used before as are different lengthsI have Contacted the seller about it but have had no response unfortunately.It was not stated that the pencils were previously used, there was also the wrong leaflet in the box (I brought the box of 76 there was a leaflet for the 84 set so it seems the set was thrown together as caran dache would Not let their product leave them like this)I have given it 3 stars as stated the pencils are stunning and genuine, but they cost £200 which is a lot of money (but good value) . I am gutted as wasn't expecting a previously used set. I suppose you get what you paid for, explains why the pencils were a little cheaper than others.

I thought that others reviews were an exaggeration. I was so wrong! I own a set of Luminance a dnPablo and my expectations were quite high.But not this time, Caran D’Ache. A simple swatch in pastelmat was a challenge. They just ruined the paper with scratches.At least 11 pencils are not working for me:009033044047066093140408620719741My advice: if you really want them, buy open stock and test them in a physical store. You will be surprised about the outcome.I sent mine back and got a refund.

So excited to finally get the full set of these. The have all the buttery goodness of sticks in a pencil. Excellent light-fastness. Excellent for glazing in pastel as well.Packed perfectly. Not a broken pencil or tip! Sharpening tip is to sharpen with a fresh blade. Use your thumb to gently push the blade to remove the pencil wood. If you have never tried this before. Get a cheap set of regular graphite pencils and a good craft knife with a snap off blade. Practice practice!

Tolle Pastellstifte, sehr weich und wunderbar für das Pastellmalen geeignet. Sehr empfehlenswert!
