This is one of the best books that I’ve read. It explains and covers the real world best practices in a simple and effective way. A must read for anyone moving to the management level in SOC and also for those who are starting as analyst in SOC

A comprehensive and clear guide for planning, managing and evaluating SOCs. A must read for anybody facing any of these tasks.

I bought this to learn how to build a SOC. On the plus side, the author is an expert in many aspects of security, if not all. On the minus side there is too much extra material. The book is a compendium of all things security and these topics have been covered by dozens of books. I also was disappointed that in the list of SOC services (page 45) there's no mention of Endpoint Detection. I would think ED is a basic SOC service. In summary, I think you could build a SOC after reading through the book, but you will have to dig out the information from within the 708 pages. Might be faster perusing some YouTube videos.
