will this mop work for picking up pet hair rather than just smearing it around like most mops do? Thank you.

Just like any damp or wet material or mop, it will only pick up things like hairs (and particles) when it's moved across the floor/counter/etc in one direction, then *stopped* and picked up.  At that point the damp thing could be rinsed off and the hair would come with it (or picked off from things like sponge mops).  If instead the damp item is just rubbed back and forth along the surface, some hair/particles will cling but some will be redeposited on the floor. Question 2

Just looking it the mop seems like it is only good for dusting and light dirt, can it scrub harder areas if needed?

We have had our current one for 4 years.  It's went through 5 dogs, 3 cats, and incontinent adult, and a husband that works at a sawmill and drags all kinds of craps into my house.  The foot pedal just broke.  We LOVE this mop.  I got one here to specifically order a new one.  This will be the only one we ever own.

Does the wringing side of the pail have clean water in it or is it just for spinning out the mop that's been dipped into the dirty water?

You realize once you put the mop head into the clean water after using it it's dirty water right? Having different buckets only keeps one bucket of water clean until you dip the mop head into the bucket after you've already used it on the first pass on the floors.

If your floors are that dirty after one mopping session then you need to do more than one mopping session.

Absolutely! I have two dogs who constantly track in the Florida sand. This mop works better than swifter for quick clean up of debris, dog hair and sand. Plus I can clean my moldings and walls with it.  Love this! Best tool ever! Easy and clean.  Used almost daily fir a month. Works fine.  I don’t expect it to last forever, but I will happily purchase replacements when things wear out.
