Brave New World: York Notes Advanced: everything you need to catch up, study and prepare for 2021 assessments and 2022 exams

I bought these notes because I was teaching an A-level student who does not live in the UK. She needed help understanding the cultural references in Brave New World. This book made it easy for us to work together because she could read her copy along with me while we were having an online lesson, and also review it afterwards by herself.The book is well laid out, easy to use, and contains links to helpful websites.

I am truly aghast at the sheer stupidity of the reviews on this page. York Notes is renown for producing Study 'Notes' - clue in the title, see? York Notes has never published full books before, and so it would be ludicrous for them to make a right turn and "you know what, let's confuse our customer base by publishing an entire novel instead of what we've been doing for the last fifty study books." My jaw literally hung open in disbelief as I read through some of the garbage on this page.The poor reviews are products of customers diving in without researching their purchase, not - as the intention of Amazon reviews - the quality of the study notes. It's the equivalent of buying a caravan trailer and complaining that it didn't come with the caravan. This study book, much like a caravan trailer, is to SUPPLEMENT the original product.I am an English Literature student; I've bought York Notes for every piece of Literature I've had to dissect, and without exception I've benefited from each one greatly. York Notes is truly fantastic, so much so that many of my classmates have gone out and bought York Notes as a result of sharing mine. This book is no exception. If you're studying Brave New World as a Dystopian theme in your Literature course, this is for you.Cliffs:* Customers do not read 'Product Description'.* Customers buy anyway.* Customers inevitably disappointed with 'wrong' product.* Customer feels s/he has been wronged. It must be Amazon's fault.* One star reviews ensue.

The content is useful however the book is very blurry, so the pictures and writing are a very poor quality- not the best

It is a so interesting book not only because of its main topic but also for others that were touched in a subtle way. Really fruitful

Good book for revision

This book sucks ... OK, it's not fair to say that because I didn't even read it.The problem is that classics like Brave New World are published by various publishers, and I thought this was just yet another publisher publishing the same book.But, this book is a study guide to the real book. This appears nowhere, Amazon did not provide any synopsis, I even tried to enter the publisher's site before ordering. It almost leads to think that they speculate in customers wrongly ordering the book. And it is too cheap to be worth the trouble of returning.If you are looking for the real book, this is not the one, move along, don't waste your money.Dissapointment 100% - if I could give 0 stars I would.

多読用教材としてポチったから、SFであることまではさすがに判っていたものの、中身にはまったく不明だった。表紙画から漠然とアシモフっぽい作品かと思っていたくらいだｗ　ディストピア小説であることは間違いなく、最後も悲劇的に終わるのだが、少なくとも中盤までの雰囲気は、皮肉っぽいユーモア小説のようだった。　新生児は工場生産されるわ、どうやらいくつかのクローンで形成されているわ、father、motherは死語だわ、というか口にするのも恥ずかしいワードだったりするｗ　極めつけは、Oh my God! のシチュエーションで出てくる言葉がOh my Ford！だったりｗｗ　そう、フォード方式で工業生産を変革したフォードが神の代替である。　本書が書かれた1932年当時、欧米は世界恐慌から三年で経済的にはまったく立ち直っておらず、こうしたディストピア物語がうける土壌があったのだろう。　Bernardが主役だと思って読んでいたが、野蛮人居留地（the Savage Reservation）から青年を連れ帰ってきてからは、その青年が社会の矛盾を一身に浴びてしまう主人公となる感じ。　本書は講談社文庫から『すばらしい新世界』として邦訳が出ている。　いろいろと読み落としている気がするので、こちらを入手して補足するつもりだ。
