As for the DVD...definitely worth the wait, and the quality is good. It was a brilliant show when it was shown originally in the 80's and remains so. The two leads are great actors, and in my opinion are amongst the best around today...especially Sam Neil. Also, being a fan of The Munsters, it was great to see Fred Gwynne in something else...he is brilliant. I'm not really a fan of Jeffrey Archer, but this is a fantastic story. For some reason, out of boredom,I checked today and to my surprise I found that its going to be released on dvd in october. For me, this was one of the best mini series shown in the 80s. I remember being transfixed with every episode. I havent seen this for years, they unfortantely dont show it on terrestrial tv anymore. The storyline was fantastic, and the acting and was first class. I dont know why it took so long for it to be released, but I am so glad that they did.

Best Mini Series in the 80s

Good story - dated production and image quality
I remember watching this as an original TV series having previously read the book, and was looking forward to re-watching over a couple of cold winter nights. But, oh how times have changed! The story is still a good one and would probably benefit from a modern remake. However, the picture quality was disappointing (did we really watch TV with such poor image quality?) and some of the production values are rather antiquated. Given that it's still worth a watch.

was so pleased to find this DVD as I look out for these old television series and this one is really enjoyable and was just as great too watch again in full.

Good series
I remember this series from way back (70s I think) and enjoyed it. It has aged very well and still very enjoyable.

Excellent series.
Overall this series was engaging. I had read the book and as I admire Sam Neil I wanted to see it. I was not disappointed.
