Excellent value for money
I was a little dubious as to the quality of this mic when I placed the order, but I didn't want to spend a lot on something that will only receive some occasional use. Fortunately, my concerns were unfounded. I have been using the mic for a few months now (since November 2017) and can highly recommend it. It performs admirably for Skype sessions, and for recording audios (I have about one-hundred hours worth from this mic). It picks up my voice just fine when speaking normally, when whispering, and even when shouting. If you have a drink, type something, get out of your chair, or rustle your clothes, it will pick up the noise. It is also sensitive enough to record background noise from my neighbours (on the other side of the house), so I imagine if you are in a particularly busy environment you might have to take that into account. I use Audacity as the recording software and have to lower the input level to around 70-75% in order to avoid picking up too much background noise. There are a few niggling things:- There is a reasonable amount of "static" noise on the raw recordings, but this can be easily corrected using "reduction" filters in whichever software you might use. (And to be fair it is much less than the static you get with most built-in laptop mics.)- The brass thumbscrews that secure the pop filter in place seem to be mounted rather flimsily; i suspect they would snap off the mounting if you were to knock them a little.- The metal support for the pop filter would have been better if it were hex (six sided) rather than round since the thumbscrews don't have enough purchase/grip to hold it perfectly in place, and gradually work themselves loose. You will find that if you pick the mic up, or move it around, the pop filter will move from side to side a little and start to slide closer and closer to the mic itself.- It doesn't appear to work with usb extender cables (at lest not the three I tested it with), which could be a problem if for some reason you wanted to move away from your desk.- You might sometimes have to connect it to your computer 2 or 3 times before it is detected. This has happened only a handful of times to me, but it is worth pointing out.Overall, a great mic for the price. Very impressed!

Feels good quality sturdy and robust….
As usual arrived promptly next day using good old Amazon prime 😊Very well packaged each component ie The mic, stand, pop filter, brackets etc were all individually wrapped and separated with foam inserts so zero chance of damage in transit.I would give 9/10 for assembly just maybe slightly still but other than that it is pretty easy with enclosed instructions.Feels good quality sturdy and robust….From there its simply USB plug and play 😊Can be used for various applications such as Skype, video, YouTube,So far only used to narrate a video but overall pleased with sound well worth the money against other computer microphones at a lot higher price 😊

Works well, but poorly made
After a few months sound became briefly erratic then disappeared altogether. I dismantled the microphone and found out that the lead had come away from the switch inside. That in turn was because the cable clam inside had not been crimped onto the cable, so there was no stress relief and all forces on the cable were being taken by the two small soldered joints.Resoldering was a pain (the very fine multistrand copper is enamelled) but worked and the microphone is now fine. If you have the technical skills, I strongly recommend checking the insides.

Okay for the price
This product overall doesn't seem too bad for the price - considering it looks well built and is plug and play in the sense that yes, you plug it in and don't need any fancy software to get it going. That's pretty much the best parts of this microphone. As other people have pointed out everything else past the plugging in is problematic, and I agree that this mic pics up a lot of static. I found turning down the audio pickup helps, but that comes with the problem that unless I am right on the microphone then my audio sounds really quiet. The troubleshooting in the manual is very lacking and seems to suggest feedback is due to other inputs being set to the inbuilt mic. I set everything to the USB microphone and still get static. I'm sure with software you could get it sounding good, but for someone not familiar with that kind of thing it's overwhelming and I had hoped to avoid a lengthy process to get it going.EDIT: I got it sorted out, it does take some software editing to cut out the background noise, so bear that in mind when ordering.

Very, very impressed
I read various reviews from other people, and was of mixed mind as to whether or not I was going to buy this. I know there's a lot of reviews were from Mac users who had a negative experience of this mic but on Windows it works beautifully.I assembled it, plugged it in, and it was instantly available in the control panel. The sound quality is excellent, and mic was very easy to put together (although the instructions are a little poor).I've used this for over a week and done several voiceover tracks on videos and it has worked flawlessly every time. For the cost, I am very very impressed with this. I know some people said it isn't that sturdy, but if you assemble it correctly everything locks tight and microphone sits inside snuggly.Definitely recommended!
