Israel's Moment: International Support for and Opposition to Establishing the Jewish State, 1945–1949

Excellent
This is an excellent book. It is often forgotten that in the late 1940s support for the creation of a Jewish state came very much from the Soviet Union and it’s satellites. More importantly, even those who know this, may not be aware of how deep-rooted the opposition to the establishment of a Jewish state, and to anything that could help it in those crucial first months of its existence was in the US State and Defence Departments. This went all the way to the very top, Secretary of State Marshall and Secretary of Defence Forrestal. The one drawback of the book is that it is quite repetitive. Nevertheless, well worth reading and strongly recommended.

Too much redundancy
This book is basically a repetitious history of the resistance from the Truman administration's State Department between 1945 and 1949 to Israel declaring itself a country and the advocates for such a state. Once this theme became obvious to me, I was bored and scanned through the last 100 pages.
