Excellent Digital Kitchen Scale - Highly Recommended
This digital kitchen scale has exceeded my expectations in every way. The accuracy is impressive - measurements are consistently precise, which is exactly what I need for baking and cooking. The build quality feels solid and well-constructed, giving me confidence it will last. One standout feature is the physical buttons. Unlike many modern devices with frustrating touch-sensitive areas, this scale has actual tactile buttons that provide satisfying feedback when pressed. This makes it much more reliable and user-friendly, especially when your hands might be wet or flour-covered. The interface is refreshingly intuitive - no need to consult the manual or guess at functions. Everything works exactly as you'd expect, making meal prep more efficient and enjoyable. After several weeks of regular use, I'm thoroughly satisfied with this purchase. It delivers on accuracy, durability, and ease of use. I'd definitely recommend this scale to anyone looking for a reliable kitchen tool.

One of the best options you might need at home.
So far I've only bought two Amazon products, and this one also turned out to be good. It's cheap but very useful; I realized after buying it that I really needed a product like this. It's small but very adequate, the tare function is very easy, I usually can't do that with scales. The display size is sufficient, easy to read.

It feels solid even though it doesn’t take up much space, and cleanup is simple. Batteries were included, so it worked right out of the box. Super scale
This kitchen scale has been such a great addition to my kitchen. It’s incredibly accurate and makes a noticeable difference when baking, especially when I’m making cookies and need precise measurements for ingredients like flour, sugar, and butter. Everything comes out more consistent, and I don’t have to second-guess whether I measured correctly. It’s also perfect for making burgers. I can portion out the meat evenly so they all cook at the same rate and look uniform. It takes the guesswork out of prepping and helps reduce waste, too. The scale is easy to use, quick to reset, and simple to clean after I’m done. Overall, it’s reliable, convenient, and makes cooking and baking so much easier and more precise.

Very Simple, Easy-To-Use - Exactly what I needed
As a nutrition coach, I rely on tools that are simple, reliable, and effective for helping my clients track their food intake, and the Amazon Basics Digital Food Scale fits the bill perfectly. This scale is intentionally basic, focusing on core functionality with a user-friendly design that makes it accessible to everyone, including my older clients. With just two buttons—one for power and zeroing, and one for switching measurement units—it’s an ideal starter tool for those beginning a nutrition program. I’ve purchased multiple units to provide to my clients, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Here’s a detailed look at why this scale is a go-to choice for my coaching practice. Design and Build Quality The Amazon Basics Digital Food Scale embodies simplicity in its design. It features a compact, lightweight platform (typically stainless steel or tempered glass, depending on the model) that’s easy to clean and fits well on any kitchen counter without taking up much space. The scale measures approximately 8.7 x 7.1 inches, making it large enough to weigh a variety of items but small enough for easy storage. The digital display is clear and easy to read, with large, backlit numbers that are especially helpful for older clients or those with vision challenges. The build quality feels sturdy for its price point (around $10–$15), though it’s not as premium as higher-end scales. The plastic components are functional but not luxurious, which aligns with its budget-friendly positioning. Functionality and Ease of Use The standout feature of this scale is its user-friendly interface, which is a major reason I choose it for my clients. With only two buttons, it’s incredibly intuitive, even for those who aren’t tech-savvy. The power/tare button turns the scale on and off and zeros out the weight, allowing users to subtract the weight of containers for precise ingredient measurements. The unit button toggles between measurement units—grams, ounces, pounds, and milliliters (for certain liquids)—catering to a variety of recipes and dietary tracking needs. This simplicity is a game-changer for my older clients, who often feel overwhelmed by more complex devices. I’ve had clients in their 70s and 80s master this scale within minutes, which speaks to its accessibility. The scale has a capacity of up to 11 pounds (5 kilograms) with a precision of 1 gram or 0.05 ounces, which is more than sufficient for portioning meals, weighing produce, or measuring ingredients for meal prep. The tare function works flawlessly, allowing clients to weigh multiple ingredients in the same bowl without manual calculations. The auto-off feature (after about 2 minutes of inactivity) helps preserve battery life, though some clients have noted they’d prefer a slightly longer idle time before it shuts off. Performance in a Nutrition Program For my clients starting a nutrition program, accurate portion control is critical, and this scale delivers consistent, reliable results. Whether they’re measuring chicken breasts, vegetables, or dry goods like rice and oats, the scale provides precise readings every time. I’ve tested it against more expensive models, and the accuracy is comparable for everyday use. The flat platform accommodates a variety of containers, from small bowls to larger plates, making it versatile for different meal-prep scenarios. Clients have reported that using the scale has helped them better understand portion sizes and stay on track with their nutrition goals, which is exactly what I aim for when recommending tools. The scale runs on two AAA batteries (included), and battery life has been impressive, lasting several months with regular use. Some clients have mentioned that the scale feels a bit lightweight and can slide on slick countertops, but placing it on a stable, non-slip surface resolves this issue. The stainless steel or glass platform is easy to wipe clean, which is essential for maintaining hygiene when weighing raw ingredients or sticky foods. Durability While the Amazon Basics Digital Food Scale isn’t built like a high-end professional model, it’s held up well for its intended purpose. I’ve been using my personal unit for over a year, and my clients report similar longevity with no issues like display malfunctions or button failures. The scale can handle the occasional accidental drop (though I don’t recommend testing this), and the platform resists scratches and stains with regular cleaning. The lightweight plastic body is the weakest link, but it’s adequate for home use and hasn’t shown significant wear in the context of daily kitchen tasks. Practicality for Nutrition Coaching As a nutrition coach, I provide these scales to clients because they’re affordable enough for me to purchase in bulk and simple enough for beginners to use confidently. The two-button design eliminates the learning curve, allowing clients to focus on their nutrition goals rather than wrestling with a complicated device. The scale’s compact size makes it easy for clients to keep on their countertops or store in a drawer, encouraging consistent use. I also appreciate that it supports multiple units of measurement, which accommodates clients following recipes or tracking macros in different formats (e.g., grams for precision or ounces for traditional recipes). The scale’s affordability is a major advantage. At roughly $10–$15, it’s an accessible entry point for clients who are new to food tracking and may not want to invest in a pricier model. While it lacks advanced features like Bluetooth connectivity or nutritional data integration (found in models like the Greater Goods Smart Scale), these aren’t necessary for most of my clients, who need a straightforward tool for basic weighing tasks. Pros User-Friendly: Two-button design (power/tare and unit) is intuitive, especially for older or less tech-savvy users. Accurate and Reliable: Provides consistent 1-gram precision up to 11 pounds, ideal for portion control. Affordable: Budget-friendly price makes it easy to purchase for multiple clients. Compact and Easy to Clean: Fits well in any kitchen and wipes down effortlessly. Clear Display: Large, backlit numbers are easy to read for all users. Versatile Units: Supports grams, ounces, pounds, and milliliters for various needs. Cons Basic Design: Lacks advanced features like Bluetooth or app integration, though not necessary for its purpose. Lightweight Build: Can slide on slick surfaces; requires a stable countertop. Auto-Off Timing: Shuts off after ~2 minutes, which some clients find too quick for multi-step weighing. Conclusion The Amazon Basics Digital Food Scale is a fantastic tool for nutrition coaching due to its simplicity, reliability, and affordability. Its two-button operation makes it accessible to clients of all ages and tech comfort levels, particularly my older clients who appreciate the straightforward design. The scale delivers accurate measurements for portion control and meal prep, helping clients achieve their nutrition goals without unnecessary complexity. While it lacks the bells and whistles of premium models, its no-frills functionality is exactly what makes it perfect for beginners. I’ll continue to recommend and provide this scale to my clients as a reliable, budget-friendly tool that gets the job done. For anyone starting a nutrition program or looking for a simple kitchen scale, the Amazon Basics Digital Food Scale is a solid choice.
