Daily Mail All New Giant Crosswords 1 (The Daily Mail Puzzle Books)

I've been purchasing these puzzle books for a while. Great crosswords, but annoyingly with this one, you cannot see the entire clues on the left hand pages, due to the inner margins, being too narrow. You have to really force the book open to be able to read it properly.

Worthwhile brain exerciser, possibly slightly harder than the current giant puzzles appearing in the Saturday paper. Many of the answers actually turn out to be quite straightforward, the challenge is trying to work out how on earth they are supposed to fit the cryptic clues before you risk inking them into the book. I would admit if these were cryptic clue only crosswords I would never be able to do them. I agree with the comments of other reviewers inasmuch as with most of clues that I do have to give up on and refer to the answers, the given solution is usually something really obscure and suggestive of a non British compiler, e.g. in puzzle number 27 who's ever heard of a "line shooter". Still all these clever answers go down in red pen into my poor old battered Thesaurus, they won't get me a second time! - Update - Hold the Front page, on telly tonight they've just used the expression "line shooter" in the 1965 British comedy film "the Big Job" - I'll get me coat

Daily Mail All New giant Crossword 1 Quite pleased with this, although I found that some of the clues were rather 'obscure & tentative'. I'm not the best 'cross worder' but have been doing the Saturday Giant Crossword for some years so am not a beginner. Perhaps I'll get more 'in tune' with the clues as I go along. with the clues as I go along.

Good value for money.

Having poor sight I was looking for a giant crossword that I could see but with this it was only the book that was large.
