Easy to hold, not too heavy to hold all evening and versatile
The music is held in place by 10 thick black strings at the spine in 2 groups of 5. The folder also has a pocket at the back and a belt at the front where you can put things like the running order, seating plan etc and there is an elastic to hold a pen. I don't think that elastic would be suitable for a standard pencil as its near the top and I think the elastic would be too lose to keep a pencil in place.I used this for a concert where I had a 62 page booklet of music with a wire wound spine. I was able to insert the booklet into the string (I used 2 strings to be on the safe side) and this worked fine. There is a useful elastic strap on the outside of the spine so you can hold the folder one handed with confidence (very useful for me as I'm clumsy & drop things a lot) and you have the other hand free to turn pages with ease. The folder is also very versatile as I have another concert next week, where I will be using a combination of single page music (I bought sleeves separately for these) and standard music booklets that will be held by the strings.I was "making do" with a standard ring binder, where I have had to "juggle" the music booklets and folder (stressful for a clumsy person) until I bought this and for me there is no comparison. I wish I had bought a proper choir folder years ago. It's well worth the investment.

This is a great, inexpensive, 'official' choral sheet music folder.
So this is a great, inexpensive, 'official' choral sheet music folder. I use the word 'official' in the sense that if you buy choral sheet music from a store you get these booklet/pamphlet style music, not A4 sheets. This is important as this folder can hold A4 sheets but it is not designed to have them kept via the 10 strings inside. You will need to keep them in either side under the internal straps. (see pics) So if you are in a choir that mainly uses A4 music or actual books of music, this is NOT the folder for you. But if your choir does a mixture of both or just uses the booklet style music, this is a really good inexpensive folder. It is a sturdy flexible plastic. The strings to hold the music are that, black braided string, not elastic. I would caution again though that if you are doing a bunch of music these songs should be just single songs, not massive medleys that take up large amounts of space. And if you think this is expensive- you're a fool and need to go see how much music folders truly cost. Yes, those come with a few extras that most folks wouldn't mind having, but don't need. And if you wonder, the 4 out of 5 stars is because it isn't designed better for A4 sheets, but can work.

Versatile folder. I use for choral music but will hold important documents for a board meeting. A4 sze, very sturdy

Great results
I really enjoy painting with gouache on this black paper. Results seem more immediate than on white paper. Delivered quickly and in a pad so I never run out.

Great design, even better if with elastic cords
I've used borrowed examples of these choir folders and they're superbly designed. I like the hand loop on the spine for secure one-handed use. But when I bought my own (this one) the elastic cords inside that hold all the music in place have been changed for non-elastic ones. It's now much harder to slide the music in and out without damaging it. Hence four stars, not five.

An industry standard for most choirs. Good value and reliable.
This is a standard, no-frills choral folder that is used by choirs across the country. It's easy to work with, comfortable to handle and has enough space for most concert programs. Will take up to A4 but grumbles at larger manuscripts.I tend to have one for each choir I'm in so that it doesn't become overfilled.(I'd also recommend loosening the metal stud and adding a tiny blob of superglue to the screw - a common issue with every folder I've ever owned)
