We are a small and flexible company that is proud to manufacture and package high quality and safe food products. Marin Food Specialties, Inc. (MFS) was established in 1974 just as the natural food industry was starting to expand beyond health food stores and into the grocery store retail segment. At that time the company was involved in the manufacturing, distributing, and marketing of natural food products. In 1982 we moved our offices and manufacturing facilities from San Rafael to Byron, California, which allowed us to expand our manufacturing and distribution operations. In 1986 MFS sold the distribution division of the company, allowing us to focus on manufacturing. In the 1990’s we installed a band oven, which allowed us to manufacture fig and other fruit bars, as well as, cookies and baked snacks. We have expanded our manufacturing capabilities for Energee Nuggets, which have continued to grow in popularity over the years.

Top notch fig bars in bulk without breaking the bank
After absolutely gorging myself on these lovely fig bars for an entire month straight, I figured it was time to let the world know about this secret little gem.When it comes to fig bars, many types whether well known or off-brand are often very dry and sometimes even have a stale texture despite not being stale. Surprisingly, these wheat-free fig bars are actually rather moist and soft! Even after sitting bagged up in my pantry for a month they've retained their soft texture.The filling is sweet, but not excessively so - these are made with honey & cane juice rather than high fructose corn syrup. It isn't gummy and hard like stale Nabisco newtons. The Marin fig bars don't have fig seeds in the filling either - a common criticism of other brands.Packaging: extremely simple and "green" - rows separated with waxed paper dividers, layers stacked with same waxed paper. This is wrapped in a bag and tied, then loaded into a cardboard box. Some bars on the outside of each layer were cracked but the filling kept them in one piece. About a dozen bars did break free and collect loose in the bag, these broke up and generated some "newton dust". The package I received was actually a lot more intact than the picture on the product page here.Price: absolutely unbeatable. $3.20 per pound of fig bars? Amazing.Overall a highly recommended product that's honestly superior to the traditional brand-name version.
