Glitzhome Handcrafted Wooden Count Down Advent Calendar With Drawer (Multi)

I had fun with this little project. It's not the greatest quality, but for the price, is it works. The drawers are very tiny, so really it holds small chocolate or candy- no small toys. Painting it made it a nice little piece of decor for December!

I really want to like this item, but am definitely disappointed with the quality. :(One drawer had popped appart, but I put that back together. One drawer pull is loose, but I can glue it. There is excess pooling of glue in some areas. Not ideal, but I can probably soften that with some sanding. What I dislike the most is that the number 4 is misprinted on the drawer, and I am actually missing one of the drawer pulls altogether. I would greatly prefer the consistency of those parts being the same, and not having to find a replacement piece. It's not elsewhere in the packaging.The overal piece is lightweight and, given the appharent fragility and its tendency to fall apart, I am more than a little worried about my small toddlers ever touching it. But that would probably be true regardless. Haha.It is beautiful though.The white light, by the way, is a clean bright white. I personally am biased toward warm white lights for Christmas, but it's not a cool white and is very neutral so I am fine with it. They do work with 2 AA batteries.Just contemplating whether I want to try to repair or replace it. It is really beautiful, flaws aside.

Really pleasantly surprised at the overall quality for the price, but one box front's number was not properly stamped by the wood burning tool-- is very light in contrast to all the others so does stand out. Another box was not properly assembled and one of the houses was not attached-- the unit came very well packaged so these issues would have to have occurred at the factory before packaging I think. However, the boxes and houses are assembled kit-like or puzzle-like so were super easy to re-assemble. I suspect these have to be churned out super fast at those factories, so would expect small defects to be common. Per other reviews, sounds like there is some inconsistency with quality. All that said, I am super happy with this advent calendar-- wonderful natural look, "soft" looking vs jagged or clunky as some wood products can be, nice table top size. Boxes are perfect size for individual candies from a candy gift box (I cut out parchment paper rectangles to line the boxes so the bottom, sides and top were covered. I wouldn't put food items directly on the wood because, who knows.....) Also had room for a tiny toy inside (little football men). So customizable. This will be a Christmas tradition that I so wish I'd started earlier as the other Advent calendars I've used (vintage cardboard ones and the new paper ones with the (yucky) chocolates inside) weren't as charming as this one has been.

The advent calendar arrived already broken with doors missing. Really thin wood, but otherwise cute.
