Not worth the money
Kit seemed very incomplete. Very few seeds and the cups are flimsy and cheap. The top does not stay on an any amount of forxe or wind takes it off of the cup. Honestly very dissapointed in the item. In my opinion do not buy this

Growing, slow and steady
I'd like to preface my review by clarifying that while I have an interest in growing plants, I'm not a master gardener by any means.I originally became interested in growing a venus flytrap when I went to Lowe's, and found a venus flytrap kit while browsing in the gardening section. Needless to say it was an impulse buy, and I quickly killed off the seed starts after doing just about everything wrong. After taking a month or so to mourn the loss of my seeds (and do some proper research), I purchased this kit in an effort to redeem myself. While the kit came with everything you'd theoretically need to get growing, I elected to purchase my own carnivorous soil mix and use smaller seed trays picked up from Lowe's that were leftover from planting earlier spring seedlings. The kit doesn't mention three additional elements I added to my growing repertoire: a timed grow light, neem oil, and a heating mat.I planted one seed per tray in the smaller square trays, and sprinkled about 5-6 scattered in the larger cup which came with the kit. I covered the smaller tray with plastic wrap that I poked holes into for ventilation, and ended up poking some holes in the plastic cup lid as well (I later realized this was unnecessary in the case of the plastic cup lid, and swapped it out for the other lid which came with the kit). The light was left on a 12-hour auto timer, and the heating mat was set to medium-high. I put the seedling trays in a silicone baking mold so that I could bottom-water the seeds. Due to the organic makeup of the kit's cup and the seedling trays, the water was easily absorbed and the seeds could exist in a humid greenhouse-like environment. This type of hot and humid environment encourages mold growth, which I learned with my earlier attempt at growing seed starts from Lowe's. A few spritzes of neem oil ensured I could keep the mold at bay, though one seedling in the square tray did unfortunately mold over and die before I could catch it.Once I had everything set up and a routine established, it was a matter of waiting for the seeds to sprout. I noticed the first bit of growth a little over 20 days after my first planting, and continued to monitor over the next few weeks. I finally removed the plastic wrap "greenhouse" cover on July 11, a little over two months from the first planting (but I plan to leave the plastic lid on the cup for a bit longer).Venus flytraps allegedly take between 2-4 years to fully grow from seed, and I'm hoping that at least one of my seedlings will actually last that long. The kit version I ordered suggests you'll be able to grow 2 flytraps, but it actually comes with 10-12 seeds, so you can theoretically get more bang for your buck if you're able to successfully germinate and care for them. Due to their incredibly slow growth and higher maintenance needs, I would NOT recommend this as a gift to someone unless you're certain they have the green thumb and patience necessary to make the most of it. However, for those who don't mind the challenge, the flytraps are a fun and unique plant to try and grow.

After 2 months it still hasn't sprouted
I followed the instructions very carefully, but after 2 months the plant still hasn't sprouted. I feel like I've been ripped off.

Nice
It's a nice beginner kit. Will test it out and see what happens. It comes with instructions and that is a plus. Just need the water and let the fun begin.

Never germinated
I am a pretty experienced gardener, but I was unable to get a single sprout from these seeds. There were very few seeds to begin with, and so I took great care to plant them according to the directions, but nothing sprouted. I gave it a long time, a full 3 months, just in case they were slow to sprout. Nope--- nothing.
