Starrett F190A Jack Only With Fine-Adjusting Screw, 1-1/4" Base Diameter

This is a fantastic little jack - totally strong and a great size.For days I was trying to work out how to secure my letter box at night and (and make sure fireworks could not be put through the door this guy fawkes). My letter box is unusual; just 8 inches wide and set deep into a recess in a thick wooden front door; it is impossible to fit an internal cover over it and lock that and anything wider than 8 inches would leave gaps either side - there are no letterbox internal flaps smaller than 10 inches.I knew there had to be something - I thought of door jammers, hinged door stops, but none provided the right angles and pivots to make it possible to remove the mechanism easily during the day. Then I thought of something adjustable to sit in front of the flap and block it from being pushed in from the front.I could hardly believe my luck to find a jack that fit perfectly! This lovely little thing now sits snugly in front of the flap inside the recess, tightly held to the top and bottom of the recess. So easy to undo during the day and redo at night with the tightening arm. A small triumph I know - and nobody else will use it for this purpose - but deeply pleasing to me and it has given us peace of mind. I am sure it has lots of other, more conventional uses too...
