A beautiful story
This is a beautifully written, heartbreaking and uplifting story. Perfect for a break from the world for awhile. I fell in love with Becca and Charlie in the first chapter, and then I was all in. It was really hard to put it down, so mostly I didn't. There was never a dip in the story, never a dull moment. And it's funny too! The journey of Becca and Charlie is everything you want from a great story. They feel real, they pull you in to their lives and you want more.

Great Read!!!
All I can say is trust the top reviews. They say it far better than I can. This is a deeply felt, feel-good novel about two frienemies who finally realise that the only one who really sees them and knows them best is each other. After years of hostility and be-grudging tolerance they help each other gain perspective of who they really are and how much of a gift they can be to each other as friends and lovers. This was my first Pernille Hughes novel and I look forward to reading more from her.

A beautiful, emotional read
I loved everything about this book. It was beautifully written and the characters felt realistic and flawed yet completely lovable. This book is a very slow burn but the journey was so fun to follow. I loved that even though the characters took a long time to fall for each other we still got to see them interacting throughout the entire book. I loved how the author dealt with the growth and healing of the characters after grief. It was a lovely read that I can't stop thinking about. Highly recommend to anyone who loves a realistic, funny, heartbreaking yet ultimately happy love story. This was one of my top reads of the year!

Not for me
I just couldn't get into this book! Had it not been a copy from the publisher, I would have DNF'd it.The blurb of the book was really good, but the follow-through wasn't there. It was really slow. The book was mostly hard feelings and arguing. Very little joy in this romance!

A must read!!!
5/5!! Words can’t describe how amazing this book is. You just have to trust and grab it. Like now. But in case you’re hesitant, let me assure you. I rank this book up there with Me Before You, My Oxford Years, and One Day In December. At the same time, it holds its own too in a different way.Let me start off by saying the romance between the two main characters really doesn’t even come into play until more than halfway through the book. But…I was okay with that. Why? The back story behind Charlie and Becca was sooooo needed. And it was so good, so entertaining, that I was fine with the lack of romance between the two. In fact, the anticipation of them seeing each other again, albeit once a year, was something to keep me going. Their banter and hate towards each other (oh so much hate) was so much fun to read…but also their growth and experiences throughout their adulthood was heartbreaking to witness. You get to see young Charlie and Becca go through all the hardships in life, and let me tell you, there were a LOT of hardships thrown their way. But I connected to it in so many levels, because isn’t that life? Isn’t that what we all go through?Sure, the two of them on paper didn’t make sense…they had completely different upbringings…and yet…they knew each other so well! Better than most! I honestly believe if they had gotten together when they were younger, it would have been a disaster! All in all, it was such a great a book and one that I won’t be forgetting anytime soon!

heartwarming story
Predictable but convincingly told. The characters are fun and funny. The sad moments veer just enough from maudlin and the details are entertaining with the right touch of humor. Good book for a chilly evening by the fire.

Good, Better, Best!
Ten Years went with me wherever I went - I just had to know, "What happens next?"! I couldn't bear to part with it even to go grocery shopping. I cheered for Charlie, said, "No!" when a new woman entered his life. I told Becca not to be so harsh. Their story ended as I had hoped and I enjoyed every minute of the trip along the way!

Amazing
Did not think I would enjoy this book so much , but the growth of the two protestants over the passage of time, with the spirit compliance of departed Ally and her mother made the passage of time believable.

Warm, funny, and heartfelt
I didn't really know what I was going into with this one but I'm so glad I read this book. There's a lot of very emotive writing in this story. I especially liked that the writing style was plain so it was so easy to sink into although it didn't lack quality. The characters had real fire and depth to them. More importantly, I felt the themes of grief were handled in an honest, raw way. Definitely a worthwhile read.

An emotional read
I enjoyed this book, on the whole - the first I've read by this author. It was the paperback edition and I found the cover very eye-catching and different, which was what tempted me to buy it.I enjoyed the will-they won't-they slow burn relationship between hero and heroine and appreciated the well-drawn characters and plotting, including the surprise (for.me) twist at the end.The reason for not giving this a 5* rating was the author's overuse of the word 'mardy'. It really began to irritate by the time I got to the final church scene. I understand the author was trying to showcase the individual personalities of her lead protagonists, but the editorial red pen should have been in use by at least the second mention of that word!I shall look forward to reading more from this author.

5 star recommendation
A thoroughly enjoyable read, well written and with such authentic characters and so much more depth and wit than the usual "heartwarming" love stories. I went through a rollercoaster of emotions before I fell in love with Becca and Charlie and the little quirk at the end was perfect to keep the stupid smile plastered on my face. Highly recommend this book.
