Worth the high price tag
We purchased this yoto player for our 11 year old daughter for Christmas two months ago. She had requested an MP3 player to listen to music, but we liked the greater versatility of the yoto player. We are mostly an internet-free house (for kids), so it was important that she be able to have a gadget that she could use without internet availability. While the yoto does require wifi in order to stream podcasts and radio stations, the cards can be used without any internet access. Her yoto is connected to the wifi, so she can listen to any of the radio stations and podcasts, but there is no option to surf the internet. We have been pleased with the amount of radio stations, podcasts, timers, and soundscapes that are available for streaming on the yoto app. The app is on my phone, but the stations, podcasts, etc can be played either on my phone or cast onto the yoto player. We purchased some audio book cards, and have been pleased with those as well. She likes that she can play them even without wifi, and that her place is saved on the audio books whenever she takes the book out. She also enjoys the kids music playlist cards as well. There is a great sampling of podcasts and radio stations (free) on the yoto app. Many of them are from different countries (England, America, Spain, Ireland, Scandinavia, Germany, etc) so you get a sampling of music from other countries. There are also a bunch of story telling podcasts, some silly, some more serious, some serial stories.I worried that the content or the yoto itself might be too childish for my daughter, 11Y, since it seemed more geared to toddlers and preschoolers as I researched, but our whole family has enjoyed all the content we have heard so far. If you have kids that are used to using tablets and cell phones, they might find the content to be childish, but our kids love it. All the music, jokes, stories, seem to be carefully curated for little ears, and we have found it all to be completely innocent and appropriate for young children so far. (Sometimes we have heard slight potty humor, but nothing too serious.)Our daughter also likes the nightlight, and the soundscapes. There are many soundscapes to choose from, including very mellow, quiet music for night. (She prefers the white or pink noise.)We have been immensely pleased with it so far. It seemed a high price tag to me, and the additional cards can add up, but there is more than enough free material on the yoto app to keep our children entertained, even without additional cards. I don't think I could highly recommend buying a yoto player enough!

My grandson loves it!
I have a 5 year-old grandson. He's locked on playing video games and watching cartoons, so I was worried he'd find this recommended gift (from his mom) beneath him, or something. Nope- he absolutely loves it, and so does my daughter. Quality value. Quality gift.

The Most Used Toy in Our Home
My husband was skeptical when I ordered this for our then 3 and 5 year old sons, but our kids use the Yoto Player more than any other toy they have. They listen to books as soon as they wake up in the morning and as they fall asleep at night. It’s a game changer on road trips and they’ve been able to listen to books it would normally be hard to get them to sit still for. We absolutely love Yoto and can’t sing it’s praises high enough!

Less screen time
This is a great option if you want to get your kids off the tv. I went with the Yoto vs tonie because of the immense options for cards on the website and the age variance. We will be using the Yoto from toddlerhood well into elementary years!

So worth it!
I hesitated for a while to buy the Yoto player thinking it might not be worth the cost. The cards aren’t cheap. But oh my word. We homeschool and are home all day long and use our Yoto player from wake up to bedtime. Honestly it would be worth it solely for the Yoto radio and Yoto daily that are built in. The radio station is so fun. The kids love the music, there’s a wide variety of older music, modern music, covers, and even the kids songs on it are enjoyable. We have yet to be disappointed with any of our cards. I love that you can control your players from your phone too! My oldest is seven and youngest is 18 months. Easy enough for the toddler to operate and enjoyable enough for the 7 year old that she will be using it for years. I’m now saving to get minis for each of the kids! We love putting on sleep sounds for bedtime and using it as a bedtime/wake light. We do dance parties, listen to stories, learn new things all day long with it. The battery life is incredible! Using it all day long we have never had a bad battery (but we charge it every night). I’m excited for Yoto to continue to expand their selection of available cards. The longer books are great for our read aloud times and gives me a break from having to be the one to always read. I could go on. I can’t say enough good things about the Yoto player. Especially if you’re looking for a way to encourage your children away from screens.

Sturdy and easy to use
Purchased for a Christmas gift for my daughter (4). It's easy to use and the cards are sturdy. She loves the different features and I love that I can control it from my phone also!

Love it
Downloads take overnight, but other than that we love our Yoto. Bought it for my 6 year old because I’m trying to keep her off the iPad for as long as possible.

3 year old loves it! Tons of functionality!
This thing is just awesome. It has so many great features and functions.First, my 3 year old uses it as a night light every single night. We used to have issues with her waking up early (5am) and wanting to get up. Well with her Yoto, we set it up on a schedule that the night light is blue (moon) until 7am, at which point it turns yellow (sun). It took all of 1 night for her to learn that if she wakes up and the light is still blue, she has to go back to sleep, and when the light is yellow she can get up. Awesome! She also loves adjusting the brightness with the dial.Although the cards are clearly designed as a way for the company to continue to make money from you even after you buy the device, they do work. The cards are a nice in the sense that my kid loves looking through them and then “picking” what she’ll listen to.The fact it charge magnetically is great, and you can just grab it and take it with you since it has the rechargeable battery. Makes it easy for her to take from room to room as she plays.App is nice and easy to use and allows you to totally control the Yoto behind the scenes, which is also nice.Overall very impressed. If I had to pick something to complain about, it would again be the repeating cost of buying the cards, we’ve bought a few packs already and they are quite expensive… would be nice to see the price come down a little on the cards (which provides the content).Overall, highly recommended!

Perfect modern radio
My daughter is still a bit young to understand/enjoy all of the features but I love this thing! The radio and podcast features are great, most of the settings are totally customizable, and the app is easy to use. I was worried my 2 year old would struggle with the cards but she figured it out right away. They work even when not fully inserted, or put in backwards/upside down, which is perfect. The first 100 words card is adorable with all the little pictures, and my kiddo also loves the crackling fire one. I can see this being useful for many years to come, and I love that it functions as a clock and bluetooth speaker as well.

Exceeds my expectations
The Yoto player strikes the right balance between giving my kids independence with a screen-free device, while still allowing me the ability to override from the app if necessary (like if the volume is too loud, for example). There is way more free content available than I realized, so even without spending a fortune stocking up on cards, there is plenty to listen to.

Very Impressed!
Such a neat toy! I bought this player for my son and I am obsessed. First, the packaging is very well thought out. Every card comes in its own sleeve that has a peel-off strip on the back so they can be stuck to easy-to-reach surfaces. The box it comes in is durable and can be used to store the Yoto when it goes on trips. Any packaging that I discarded was either recyclable or biodegradable and could be composted; love that. Secondly, I popped in the Welcome Card that comes with the machine and was impressed by how easy the directions were to follow. I downloaded all of my Yoto cards (I purchased The Gigantuous Collection by Roahl Dahl) and was super impressed by the pixelated images that appeared for each card. The picture quality is sharper than I expected it to be and my kid excitedly kept telling me what the image was, even though I was quickly popping each card in and out just so they could download. While we waited for the cards to download, I switched over to Yoto’s free “radio station” and we listened and danced to several kid’s songs. Suffice to say, my kid loves it. When the system isn’t in use, it sits docked on his bedside table, acting as a clock. He currently has a different nightlight in his room, so he doesn’t make use of it in that setting, but when he’s playing in his tent or a fort, he likes to turn it on, so that is a nice feature.

Overpriced Bluetooth speaker
The Yoto is a cute story cube that only lasts a few hours if it’s unplugged from its doc. One could just as easily use a phone and Bluetooth speaker to have a toddler listen to. We were disappointed by the lack of battery life and had hoped for more. It was too late to return it by the time we tried it off the dock, so it’s a cute radio type decide in our little one’s room. I wouldn’t recommend or buy again.
