Fantastic replacement remote to give tv control too!
This little remote is amazing. Yeah, it's just a Roku remote, big deal right. Well yeah, it is. If like me you have a few Roku's in your house and every one came with the basic remote with no volume or TV control, this thing is a Godsend. It allows me to toss the multiple remotes into a drawer and control everything with one little remote. No more fumbling around with the original TV remote just to turn up the volume or turn on the TV. Setup is a breeze. It comes pre-programmed to work with a half dozen brands with no "learning" required. If like me you have some tv's that aren't in the pre-programmed list, no problem. Put it in learning mode and teach it how to talk to the brand you have. Learning with this is brilliant. Why haven't other replacement remotes figured out how to teach a remote the way this thing does? Put it in learning mode (push two buttons at the same time), push the button you want to "teach", point it at the original remote and push the button on that remote you want it to "learn". Viola, done. This remote does require the original remote to learn. There is no list of brand codes to use if you have lost the old TV remote so if you are trying to replace a lost TV remote, you need to look elsewhere but if you have your original remote and just want to de-clutter your remote pile, this is the one for you. It works with line of site Roku's (not the sticks as those aren't line of site) right out of the package. If you are on the fence about this, get one. You won't be sorry. As always, if you don't like it, you can always return it on Amazon so there is no risk.

Works great - programming was a breeze!
This works perfectly. I got the one with the power/volume control for the TV as there are several different types listed here. My TV remote was one of the ones that could be programmed without "learning" (I have an Element TV and it uses LG codes). That's the easiest way to go - there are about 7 - 10 pre-programmed TV code sets that can be used. Check to see if your TV is compatible with one before you try the "learning" method. Just search for your TV brand and code compatibility. The "smart" buttons work easily and were also no problem to program. I just wish there were more options for Roku channels to select. Many people talk about how it's difficult to aim it - I have no problem with that - I just point it in the general direction (of either the Roku or the TV) and it powers on fine, controls the volume fine, and operated the Roku. To the people having troubles, I'd suggest trying a new battery. This is definitely worth it for not having to scrounge around for the TV remote while lying in bed! This one tiny remote does it all.

Works for our Samsung and Panasonic TV’s and Roku Express
I recently purchased two of these remotes, one for my husband’s Samsung TV and one for my Panasonic TV. It was easy to set them up for both TV’s. They are both working with our Roku Express just fine. They are set up to turn on the tv, change the volume (on the Samsung sound bar in one room and the TV in the other) and to work Roku, Netflix, Hulu and HBO, with just a push of a button on one remote. That in itself is great. We were tried of having so many remotes just to watch TV.The one thing we wish was different and why I gave it 4 stars is, we wish the volume control was on the front not on the side of the remote. Otherwise it’s great.

Perfect for sound bar control
Due to issues with my Samsung soundbar and TCL Roku TV not 'cooperating' over HDMI, I decided to connect my soundbar using an optical (aka TOS-LINK) cable. The problem this created was that I could no longer control volume using my original TV remote - I had to use my Samsung sound bar remote to adjust the volume. This is a learning remote - it can learn the IR signal from the Samsung sound bar remote, and the rest of the buttons could be programmed from the original Roku TV remote. In fact, you can use any existing IR remote to program it. Since TCL isn't a 'built-in' supported brand, I had to program all the buttons on the remote... every button is programmable - except maybe the Netflix and PrimeTV buttons (not sure about those 2 - I left them as-is). Also, the little yellow "iKU" button above the play button is pre-programmed for the ROKU channel. You can reprogram this to do anything else by having it "learn" another signal from another remote - I could use it for example to power my soundbar on/off, or use it to sequence through soundbar inputs, whatever.Very happy with this purchase and highly recommend it. It's an excellent value. The only thing I would wish for would be a silicone cover to protect this as we have young children who drop remotes constantly. But for $15, I'm not terribly worried about it.

Controls TV and Roku with a single remote
I am using this remote instead of the standard Roku remote. It's very convenient because it does the common functions of the TV remote, so I don't have to use two separate devices. It's really easy to program. I have 9of these, one for each of my 9 TVs. With a Next gen remote extender, a single Roku Express and an 8-way splitter, I can change the channel on 8 of the TVs from any room. I have a second Roku for the 9th TV so guests can watch a different channel. This allows me to control multiple TVs in the rooms where I'll be working from whatever room I'm in. As I go from room to room, I can hear the TV program without interruption. I don't know why this asks for picture and sound ratings as the remote doesn't affect the broadcast quality.
