Worthwhile Added security
I ordered this to protect the investment in my bike when I go fishing but it can of course be used in many situations. I often can’t get to the river or lake by bike but can get close enough to walk the rest of the way. Out of sight but not far enough that I can’t hear a loud noise. I needed something to alert me if anyone was messing with my u-lock when I leave my bike in the woods close by. This fits the bill well. I like that it has 2 methods of securing it to a bike, either by zip tie or if you can find a tube on your bike that will work (I did, seat post), with the bracket provided. Regarding the bracket, it seems to be made of plastic not metal, so you’ll need to take care not to overtighten it. There are 2 silicone strips which fit nicely onto the inside of the bracket pieces where they would otherwise make contact with the bike, in order to protect the bike and helping to keep the alarm securely fastened to the bike.As for the alarm itself, it is LOUD for its small size but that’s how I want it to be. It does have different volume levels if your ears can’t handle the din. I can’t decide whether I want it to be inconspicuous to a would-be thief or in a place where seeing it can be a deterrent itself. I guess it might depend on the situation. The remote fob seems well made and takes a standard CR2032 button battery. The alarm itself is of course rechargeable via the supplied usb C cable. The manual itself is pretty thorough and logical. As always it will take repetition (at least for me since I have so many gadgets that operate in different ways) to remember the operation sequence but that’s not a fault of the device. What was slightly confusing was a reference in the manual to the fact that “some fast adapters are not compatible” (for charging the alarm, the cable is supplied but not an adapter which most folks will already have) so I’m not quite sure how you would know if your particular charger would be compatible or not or whether incompatibility has any consequences such as damage to the unit. All in all, I like this alarm. It’s small and discreet, detects motion well and packs a punch. Recommended.

Great alarm and great instruction book…should’ve read the instructions closer!
The media could not be loaded. I just got an electric bike and wanted more security than just a lock…turns out the Onvian Bike Alarm is just what I needed. Having said that, there were some hiccups along the way and my video ended up being pretty funny (after the fact). The alarm comes with a really well-written instruction book that includes both installation and usage instructions…so I didn’t have to go online somewhere to find it. Yes!There are multiple installation options…but the one I really wanted was the bracket, as it looked like it would be most theft-resistant. Just about every tube on my bike, however, was too big or too small. I ended up mounting the alarm on the back of the seat post. This should be fine as I’m not going to be adjusting the seat farther down. I first tried installing the alarm with the USB port on the top, but that didn’t give me enough room to actually get the USB cord into the alarm…so I ended up installing it with the USB port on the bottom. The only other glitch I ran into was fastening the alarm to the bracket. The alarm itself simply screws into the bracket. But to make it more secure (theft-resistant), the manufacturer includes a screw (and screwdriver) that will prevent the alarm from being un-attached. It’s a teeny tiny screw. There are holes on the alarm and bracket that need to be aligned, because the bracket can be screwed on clockwise or counter-clockwise. The instructions did mention aligning the screw holes…but it took me awhile to get that through my head. Sigh. The included screwdriver is actually on the end of the allen wrench. But because the bracket has a bit of a plastic lip right above the screw hole, the allen wrench is too thick to actually get the screwdriver part into the teeny tiny screw. Luckily, I had a teeny tiny screwdriver from an eyeglass repair kit that worked.I really love how easy it is to set the alarm volume and sensitivity. It comes pre-set with the highest volume and sensitivity, though, so I didn’t even have to touch it. I did find that if I just throw the remote into my bike bag that I need to be careful how I place it in there…otherwise when I hit a bump, I got a beep! But all is good now and I’m very happy with this purchase.

Easy, Effective and Loud! Excellent Theft Deterrent for Anything! Use it on your Hotel Door!
This is a great alarm system and I plan on using it with my bike and on anything I want to keep safe when I'm traveling! It's an easy setup as the alarm can be attached to the seat post, handlebar or anywhere else you can strap or insert it into. Included in the kit is a multi-function remote control. Using the remote you can: 1.) locate your bike using the bell icon via a single bleep 2.) Arm the alarm 3.) Change alarm tones and volume of the alarmUseful things to know:1.) The alarm is rated IP54 Waterproof meaning it can withstand some water force but will not survive being immersed in water or a prolonged drenching rain and wind.2.) It is easy to use once you learn what the functions are on the remote.3.) You may be interested in buying a number of these alarms if you travel with a group of bike as you can "protect" them all, (up to 8), at the same time by pushing the "arm" button on just one remote. Each will respond separately to vibration. That's handy if you're traveling with a group and attach bikes together as every bike that's moved will sound off. Conversely, you can also link one alarm to up to 8 remotes.4. The alarm is loud and is somewhat painful at close proximity which is exactly what you want.5.) It needs recharged at times; the directions say every 2-3 months depending...Bottom line: If you want simple, effective and loud, this is your alarm system. It won't stand prolonged rain exposure so if installed on a motorcycle and ridden 60 mph+ in a driving rain, it likely won't live for long. But, it is easily removed/reinstalled from it's mount with a simple turn so take it off if weather conditions are bad.
