Morrison Hotel (sometimes referred to as Hard Rock Café from the title of the first side of the LP, with the second side titled Morrison Hotel) is the fifth studio album by American psychedelic rock band The Doors, recorded from between August 1966 and November 1969 and released by Elektra in February 1970. After the previous year's more experimental album The Soft Parade was not as well-received as anticipated, the group went back to basics and back to their roots. On this album, there is a slight steer toward blues, which would be fully explored by the band on their next album, L.A. Woman.

An excellent album by one of the all time great bands
As a band, The Doors had everything that goes into making a fantastic rock band; a charismatic singer, technical and musical brilliance, a sense of danger, lyricism etc etc. I could go on. People are free to disagree, but I have often looked upon them as the US equivalent of The Who (although of course musically very different). The fact that they are a 4 piece (plus bassist) you can clearly hear the contribution of every instrument, which is something I really like; lots of different sounds can often mean too many. All of The Doors albums with Jim Morrison are well worth a listen, including this one, which is more on the blues rock side - and probably missing an out and out classic,

Great album
Ordered this album, along with The Doors, Strange Days and Waiting for the Sun. Arrived as fast as possible and the CDs are in superb condition, although used. 2 cases were damaged by transport. I recommend this album to any fans of Hard Rock. It has a great vibe to it that mixes Hard Rock with Blues and Jazz (à la Doors). Great album overall!

Best band ever?
The Doors are one of the best bands ever, if not THE best. And they themselves wrote almost all the songs on their 6 studio albums. But one word of warning - if you want the original authentic recordings DO NOT BUY the "remastered" cds released in 2007 as these are actually remixes. Buy the remastered series of cds released around 1989, of which this is one.Incidentally I saw the Doors at the 1970 Isle of Wight Pop Festival and they were fantastic - the best act there.

Arrived on time in good condition
I could have bought this album as an extended cd for £6 locally, so paying over £13 from this seller is hardly brilliant value for money. However, if like me, you prefer classic albums in their original form without unecessary bonus tracks and alternative mixes etc, this is a good buy

Close to the original
This gets 5 stars not because it's the best Doors album, although it's still excellent, but because it hasn't 'suffered' too much from the interfering of the Remastering Brigade. Why don't they just leave things alone? The original vinyl is the best, this comes a close second.
