A totally cool follow-on from Halo 2, plenty of action-packed, shoot-em-up fun, both on and offline!
Honestly, I like Halo 2 a little better than this but, as one of Bungie's shoot-em-up fans, I still think this is still totally cool and if you are into the Halo games, this is definitely one which you cannot do without. A total must-buy for sure! If you are a Halo games fan and plan on playing games like Halo 4 and (whenever available) Halo 5, then be sure to play this game before you do, otherwise you will surely miss out on the Halo series' awesome storyline as a game and what it has to offer those who enjoy the Halo games. For those of you who haven't played either this game or Halo 2, the events in Halo 3 take place after the ending of Halo 2 and what follows on from it. In Halo 2, the master chief had successfully battled it off the previous alien world and had infiltrated back home to earth using a stolen enemy ship. After this, the storyline continues on from here. Pretty cool :-) . What makes it even better in my view, is that unlike the game Destiny, which is one particularly less-popular Bungie title for it numerous flaws, you do not need the internet to play. So you never have to worry about being shut off by the internet and your system infected with viruses while in the middle of your gaming time as of Destiny, along with your console always crashing for some ridiculous and even shady technical reason. (Destiny: an absolutely rubbish and outright disappointment of a game. My advice as of many other people in association: Never Buy Destiny, to much bad reviews to it, stick with the Halo games. Save your money, time and energy. Believe me, I know what Im talking about.)

Evolutionary Release
As the title suggests, this isn't as groundbreaking as some of the pre-release hype would have had us believe. But it is good- and it's better than the first two games of the series in an evolutionary kind of way. The next-gen graphics are very good- environments are crisp and shadows and lighting effects throughout beautiful to see. The animations and characters themselves are very well drawn and you can tell that the 360 brings something to the table when it comes to visuals and effects (it should for a multi-core console). As far as the game is concerned, the single player portion is probably enough to go on with for those without XBox Live (but I would really recommend you get a Live account anyway). The game is over in normal mode at around the ten hour mark (dependent on style of play and experience) and the environments are a lot more expansive and open than the previous offerings from Halo 1 and 2. Even so, they aren't as big as we were led to believe. The weapons and enemies are pretty good- developments in the Covenant (mainly in AI) build on what has gone before and I think make the game that little bit more challenging (especially on the higher levels). What *makes* the game though are the online options. They are, to put it simply, excellent. You can have the online experience matched to your level; you can edit objects on maps in "forge" mode, and let's not forget the movies you can save and share of your exploits on the battle field. In some way this is a revolutionary part of the game and Bungie have delivered the goods this time around. So although the game is short in single player, there are challenges online that could last years to come. It's that good. The game is very good but with Call of Duty 4 around the corner it will be hard to decide which gets your attention the most.

Classic, worth playing today
an absolute classic, highly recommended, the campaign is absolutely stunning and holds up even after 10 years! with great graphics and an epic sense of scale and tension not found in newer halo releases (not to say newer halo games are bad or anything) the multiplayer is were this game shinned back in the day and even today there are still many people to play with online so you shouldn't find it hard to get a match, additionally there is always good old LAN (system link) for a reliable connection with friends. Overall halo 3 is a great gem of the last generation worth playing today.

NAUGHTY. VERY NAUGHTY
I've played HALO 3 before, but just fancied another go at it as I'd sold my previous copy a few years back. No. No, no, no: my review is not about the game, it's about the seller pulling a fast one. The product blurb says NORMAL EDITION, but I opened the disc case to find a CLASSICS disc in there. Now I know there is no difference between the normal edition, or the classics edition; but if you're going to sell something as a normal edition then stick a classics disc in there, you aren't going to keep my custom. Disappointing...

Fantastic
I have to say that as a big Halo fan, Halo 3 is one amazing game. I prefer it to Halo 1 and 2. The game play is better, it has a better story line, and overall it has better graphics. I do have one criticism, is that you cannot sprint on the game, taking it forever it to get to your next objective, although I know that in other Halo games this has been brought into the game. If you are a Halo fan then I do recommend you get this game, it is worth every penny, and will keep you entertained for hours. There is also a new feature, you can play Halo 3 co-op, through the Xbox live network.

A classic
Classic, if you haven’t played this then you’re in for a treat. Great multiplayer options, and good game play, shame they don’t make them like this anymore.
